Hey man. So I finally picked up a WD MyBook Live 3TB a couple of days back. I was in desperate need of storage and this was the most cost-effective solution out there, until I get a proper NAS box. The speeds are pathetic but thats understandable cos I've hooked it up with a 10/100 router. Once I upgrade to a gigabit router hopefully speeds will improve. Anyway I'm still looking for a proper NAS box (something like this: Amazon.com: Synology DiskStation 2-Bay (Diskless) Network Attached Storage DS212j (White): Electronics) but in the meantime this should do. Thanks for the offer and the help!

Not sure if you would wanna try it but you may possible install bit torrent client as well on the live edition.

Search on Google for the method. Pretty simple.

If you can stream Blu Ray over it then it's fast enough in my opinion.



Try jumbo frames if that option is there. Help speed things up

thanks man. yes it is possible to install a bittorrent client on this via SSH. I'll definitely look into it. Streaming works fine over wireless. but my 10/100 router is holding it back, especially when it comes to data transfer speeds.
