Whats the difference/advantage of getting a motherboard worth 27k over one that is worth 7k when the 7k one has pci e 2 slot which can fit any modern gpu (pci 3 has no noticable advantage over pci 2 interms of gaming) and supports the 4th gen cpus? Should I just get the 7k if it meets my demand and if its a grood brand like gigabyte or asus? What am I missing out apart from the obvious better build quality of a 27k one? Im going to put on a r9 280x on it with a 4th gen i5

27k mb. must be designed for 2~3 GPUs and may have extreme power phases for overclocking .... may have a lot of SATA/USB ports

if you will use a single GPU and won't overclock then get any mb. of h97 chipset

if u r getting a 4th generation processor a b85 chipset is best for you (GIGABYTE GA-B85M-D3H for rs 8800 at Galaxy.pk) ..this mobo is best for r9-280x..
if u r a overclocker than surely u will need a unlocked proccessor and unlocked mobo (z97 chipset ) which is more expensive...

its your choice and also the game of money,if you can afford you can go for big mobo which has many features and can serve you many years.I am using a ga-z97x-ud5h,i bought for about 26k and it can serve me like 5 years or so.

- Features factor
- Performance factor
- Stability factor

A high-end motherboard is superior to a budget motherboard in almost every aspect and ensures superior computing experience on the whole.

Otherwise cheaper motherboards can be perfectly fine if you are not an enthusiast.

Yes its features for which u pay extra!
High end motherboards offer
1. Military grade capacitors etc only gud for prolonged and LN2 over clocking
2. Better PCB design and protection again gud for extreme users
3. Offer multiple GPU usage with extra juice
4. Better power phases ie when u pump in more current for CPU n memory over clocking the caps n stuff provide uniform, controlled and clean current supply! Again nothing for a normal user!
5. Audio well u get extra hardware including sound cards etc
6. WiFi thunderbolt Bluetooth dual lan and bla bla bla!
So basically its a useless thing for someone on a budget or who has brains!

Thank you all for you replies. One small thing I wanted to ask is it possible that gpu might not fit a motherboard as in it might obstruct other important slots making the gpu incompatible with the mobo?

also do good power supplies have some sort of a voltage regulator since the voltage fluctuates a bit where I live. It can sometimes even cross the 240 mark, so whats the solution to that?

before buying a mb.. determine you much cards you will install..
like sound card, TV tuner, LAN card, etc...........
most GPUs block one (lower) slot that can be PCI or PCIE 1x
also check SATA ports position with respect to the GPU.... sometimes among 4 sata ports, only two are usable due to GPU conflict

better to use a good stabilizer
