Media Science/Mass Communication?

Are these good field to get into? I have interest in them but according to my family these fields have no scope . They want me to do engineering (haha typical ) .. the only engineering that might be interesting to me in Computer.

So, can anybody guide me about what I should be doing.

If they're decent fields, do let me know about the best universities too.. Thanks

It's very popular in chicks nowadays. Plus if you have a strong background you can do it because they're right getting job in these fields is difficult since market is saturating with these. All in all it's not something you can depend on. But nonetheless they're high paying jobs.

Well there is some scope of media science.. it's already a established field Abroad n it is growing here in Pak as well (especially film/drama production n advertising).. My brother is studying it n he enjoys it, though u have to be quite creative n have analytical skills to really get going.. u'll hv to learn a lot by urself too, through YouTube videos or googling etc.. but I can't tell u abt salary n whether people get job easily or nt.. while if u r interested in visual effects/animation thing then u can choose to study either media science or computer science.. search Mir Zafar Ali (a local example).. apart frm that by studying CS, u can obviously specialize in software development, game development, web design n IT.. so think abt it..
Best universities for media science/film making: Szabist, NCA.. these two r most popular for it..
For CS: FAST is the most famous n probably the best, but Nust, Giki n probably Comsat r also some very good options.. if not those then Iba Karachi, Szabist n UBIT r good options too if u're in Karachi n want to study here
