I was thinking of participating in Lums Psifi. Since our college isnt funding so i thought we should only participate if there is really a hope of winning. Any one who has been to Psifi before and can help as to what the level of work is over there? I'd prefer to participate in things like robo wars, or making an airplane or racing cars. So any one who has been there or is going. Or any lums student who can tell what to do and how exactly to be a winner over there. Heres the website though:

yes i have been there twice. if u are hoping to participate in stuff like robo wars be prepared to dish out ALOT of cash from your own pocket..like 30-40k minimum cuz the robots there are badass..kinda like the ones u see on the tv show. when i participated, airplanes had two categories, the uni one had remote controlled planes whereas the school/college ones had wooden planes which are fun to make. racing cars(if its the one i think it is..mousetrap car and a remote controlled buggy) then that even sucked bawls..big time!

yar thing about all these competitions is that most of the participants are from unis like giki or nust eme so they are badass in their fields..if u want to win get a nerdy team and participate in events related to maths or bio etc..a better chance of winning

I went to Psifi 2012 representing my school. Secured 2nd position in both robowars and rube goldberg machine competitions. The others are right; it you wanna win something, be ready to spend A LOT of money and input A LOT of effort. We ended up spending a good 7k per team member on our robot alone (school didn't even give us a dime).

Wish I could have gone this year, but freaking end semester exams start 3 days after Psifi -__-

Not true. We were school kids and our robot beat the crap out of robots made by students from engg unis. The 1st position robot was made by a school team too (Beaconhouse).
Same goes for the RGM competition, the 1st position holder was a school team from KGS.

Bottomline is that you shouldn't think it's impossible right from the get-go. If you can gather a motivated team and are ready to make a wholehearted effort + spend some cash, then go for it!
