Lockdown Duration Thoughts

Assalam-o-Alaikum!

Since we are staying home and have a lot of time thinking about stuff. I was wandering how long the lockdown is expected.
They say it will be over in 2 ways. Either vaccine arrives which takes 15-18 months atleast or everyone gets infected with virus so that only stronger lives.

So seeing all this i expect that it will take like 3 months to lift lockdown. What your expert opinion says?

They're probably going to lie to us and say things have normalized and return everything back to normal - in Pakistan anyway. That's me putting on my tinfoil hat.

Nobody said the lockdown would be over in 2 days. Sindh government is under pressure from businessmen to end it after 14th April, however federal government has already hinted us that it would go on till atleast 24th April.

However, since Pakistan is a struggling country, my suggestion would be to lift the lockdown after the 14th as most of the spread has been contained.

Agreed, specially in some areas people are being very careless and going outside unnecessarily. So i believe the original stats would be much higher than whats being revealed.

It is not the most of the spread that we should be worried about when 1 person is enough to put 40000 people in quarantine. We miss even 10 people who are Covid positive and we will be fucked. Any where from 25-50% of people who are infected have no symptoms so it will be almost impossible to quarantine every single person who is positive.

A century ago almost the same thing happened with Spanish flu, people thought they had almost controlled it and relaxed. The second wave of Spanish flu killed far more people than the first one.

We should not take this pandemic lightly.

COVID-19 is not as lethal. IF you have a good immune system, you could even recover from it fully without showing any symptoms in the first place. I am no scientist but I have gathered that citizens' of the developed countries were hit harder as their immune system is not as strong as the ones of the people living in the third world countries (Check stats on WHO, top 10 countries are well developed - while countries like Pak, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka stand well below). Having said that, lack of tests could also indicate that low number of positive cases; but on the other hand, we have lower number of deaths too. So we could not negate the hypothesis that immune system plays a vital role in the fight against this virus.

Canada and USA could afford to close down their countries for indefinite time. Unfortunately, countries like Pakistan could not. I could feel how desperate and helpless our government must be feeling right now, being in a tremendous pressure at the moment.
