Hey guys hope u all r fine, i need ur help regarding following scenario.

I'm getting a second hand laptop from a guy now he's got 2 laptops having following specs:

i3-350m, 4gb ddr3, 500gb, intel hd + 5470 512MB
p6000, 4gb ddr3 , 320gb, intel hd + 5470 512MB

Now i3 laptop has bad lan as it's not working rest is working fine according to him, and p6000 well i'm using it since a week and it's working perfectly.

I've the option of exchange with i3 laptop as the seller will provide me with usb lan, but that laptop (i3) is costing me 3K more than p6000 laptop.

Now i wana know shall i take i3 laptop or keep p6000 laptop, keep in min i3 laptop also has 500gb hdd. I'm only confused coz i fear that once a fault has arrived in the laptop and due to this other devices might also get faulty, what u think?
the guy is giving me 1 month personal warrenty for both and above that 6-7 month of international warrenty also remaining.

Is it worth it spend 3K more for i3 eventhough it's lan is faulty? And is there any chance that other components might get faulty with the passage of time?

Kindly let me know by tonight as ive to make that decision by tomorow and will get one laptop tomorow from him.

thanx alot.

Does its WIFI work properly? I think its worth getting a faulty LAN port Laptop which has i3 over a Laptop which has Dual Core.

LAN or Wifi?
if it's RJ45 port then i'll say go for i3 else don't go for p6000 wait for some i3 or check techno city they have some hp probook there check those out.

wifi and every other thing works for the i3 laptop just the rj45 port doesn't and for that the seller is providing me with usb lan (rj45). My main concern is that once a fault comes in the laptop mobo then is it possible that other devices might also fail?

yar i havn't seen that usb lan myself, will chek it tommorow, it doesn't matter to me if its 54mbps or 100mbps coz i don't use the lan at all, i will again say that i'm only worried that fault may increase or will it stay as it is now

Both the Laptops are USED and are equally likely to get screwed up as any fault could even arise after 1 month......and even worse, both have Graphic Cards, which means that YEA you'll be regretting getting anyone of these after a while.....

cheers :)

If the LAN port is not working, then get i3 asap.
If WIFI is not working, then don't even think about getting the i3 one.

I'd say stick to the current one. The P-series processors are quite good, and to be honest, you won't be able to tell the difference between i3 and your current processor.

i know p series processors are great and p6000 is a bit newer processor than i3 350m but i3 350m is 2.26Ghz and has HT while P6000 is only @1.87Ghz and doesn't have HT.

both the laptops have switchable graphics (intel hd + 5470) hence the graphic card won't be fully stressed all the times secondly both have 6 months of international warrenty remaining too.

Guys the hdd size is also different in both as i3 has 500gb while p6000 has 320gb

Okay so you've confirmed that WIFI is working. I think you should get it now because you won't have anything to lose since both are used, but i3 is superior + it has more hard-disk space. GET IT NAAAAO! :D

I will say get i3 without any fear. I never heared or saw that other components stop working due to one faulty component, fault can come on new machines as well. Might be possible to repair that RJ45 connector i think you should ask this ques to any laptop repair shop. He is giving you usb lan + that have 6 months international warranty so I will recommend you get i3 notebook without any fear.

What these guys are saying.

Get the Core i3.
Also the USB-LAN thing sucks as USB 2.0 is no where near the speed of gigabit lan. It is a fall back option and that is it!
