c/c++ oop(object oriented programming) its the basic language to design DOS base programs, first you get used to it then move towards java,android,windows,visual basic and many other !

Start with Turbo C, having clear all basic concept then jump to object oriented programming....
iPhone/iPad apps/games are developed using C++ and Android games apps/games are developed using java

learn actionscript, its one of the best for making games. I have made a quite few. One of my initial game

But basically you havr to start from the scratch and learn your way up.

LOL dude forget what everyones saying over here. do you have ANY coding experience? im guessing no. first things first, you NEED to learn coding if you want to develop games. start with python first, its easy. then learn javascript, and then c++ and then c. it'll take you a year or two, and lots and lots of dedication and hardwork.(and thats just the BASICS). oh and yeah, developing console games will require some SERIOUS effort, so team up with a few other coders. this shall not be easy, but if youre determined, go for it. forget about making big games for the next 5 years.

Game Development(especially if non flash) is a serious business. If you are alone 3-d games are out of the question, infact i don't think there are a lot of people in all of Pakistan that develop professional 3d games, too much resources required along with a Darth of skilled HR.

If you don't know anything you must start with C/C++ although nowdays for some peculiar reason python is also gaining traction. If you work hard you can master it within 2-3 months. Now that you are done with the basic's of programming it is time to choose for which platform you must make the game. IPhone, Android or for dekstop. There are a number of solutions available that depend on what kind of game you want to develop.

For IPhone you would start from Objective-C towards Cocca framework. For Android it would be java. However if your game doesn't use hardware acceleration and does not require device specific features then HTML5 can also be considered. Then there is also Flash, which albeit is easiest of all(i remember using it without even having basic programming knowledge though this approach is not good)but is dying, only use it if you are making games for fun and not for profit.

First, if you wanna earn good in this world then dont aim for gaming as the only industry....its not the most rewarding industry for developers n designers..rather choose a primary industry like for designing go to media companies, and work there, while keeping game designing as your second choice.

Second, there are many disciplines in gaming: coder, level designer/director, 2d/3d artist, 3d animator, project manager/teamlead, QA testing (code,gaming,etc)
Choose which discipline to use, and stick to it.

Third, use existing gaming mods to increase knowledge on how game engines work. Make your own mods, or use existing games level designers or use gaming kits like Unity or UDK.
