Is Thermal Master 420 watts enough for HD 6670 ??

I suggest you get a better branded 400 watt power supply then a thermal master.....

it has Low quality components, no PFC and terrible efficiency ratings...you can check online that some people are having some problems with it....

Bro, that is marketing BS from AMD.

HD 6670 does not requires good PSU to function properly because its power requirement will be met by the motherboard itself.

Therefore, a normal PSU will suffix. However, it doesn't hurts to buy a good PSU if budget is not an issue. In fact, this is recommended practice.

thankyou all for replying .... currently i am using HD 4670 1gb without any problem and 4670 needs more power than 6670 and 7750 consumes less power than both these cards ...as i cant find the Gddr5 version of 6670 so i have decided to go for 7750 instead ....now i have got two options ,,,..
1. SAPPHIRE HD 7750 Gddr5 1 GB ..for 12300rs... this one is available from galaxy ..where i can personally visit,,in case of warranty claims etc....second option is
2. GIGABYTE HD 7750 Gddr5 1 GB OC ..for 11400rs...this is available from shophive..they will probably get cash on delivery ..here is the link..Gigabyte GV-R775OC-1GI price in pakistan

Please tell me how much reliable is shophive...secondly as HD 7750 require a pci express 3.0 so will it run on my mobo..i dont know the exact version of motherboard but i have currently installed HD4670 DDR3 ...on core2duo ...

gigabyte hd 7750 is factory oc and is faster and is cheaper in the market

as for shophive it is expensive and you will find it cheaper in the market...

AMD doesn't know about power supplies.

When they write something like "amd recommends that you have at least a 400 watt power supply with the 6670." they have the bigger picture in mind, that the majority of the users will be using cheap Chinese junk PSUs which can't deliver half of their labelled power and that's why most of their 'recommendations' are near double the requirements of the 'actual' power needed.


@OP even though the 6670 will run on your current setup, it is highly recommended that you buy a reliable 350/400 W unit such as the Antec 380D which will be far better than your current PSU.

if the op buys a good power supply from xigmatek....that will be better for him then thermal master in the long run. If he wants to add in more components or a better card so for future proofing a 400 watt is better.

Even the antec vp 450 basic ps comes with features like Over Current Protection (OCP), Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Short Circuit Protection (SCP) and Over Power Protection (OPP) to prevent damage from a variety of dangers. With the state of electricity in our country wouldn't choosing a better ps be a safer bet.

Wouldn'tthat be better then recommending a chinese knock off like thermal master. So whats the harm in going for something better.

...the op has asked for recommendation from 6670...not 7970.....
