Is it safe to update my JTAG 360's dashboard by myself?

I'm currently on 16202 dash & want dash '16537' for Need for Speed: Rivals.

My question: is it safe to update my JTAG 360's dashboard by myself using this tutorial carefully Jtagged or RGH Xbox 360 Easy Update to Dashboard / Kernel 16537 with XeBuild GUI OR should I take my Xbox 360 back to the guy who JTAGed it so he would update it?

My Xbox 360: JTAG Jasper 512 Mb, 250 Gb Internal...

It's not that difficult to do it yourself. Once you go through a good tutorial it takes only 10-15 minutes max (at least this is what I experienced the two times I did it.)
Here check this tutorial, it's real simple and easy. Personally used it (the corona variant since I have that model).

hey i'm also confused.. i downloaded that game( NFS Rivals) and when i try to play , it asks for update. should i update it or not?
'coz i used to do that before and nothing happens.. xbox runs fine after update.
my xbox 360 is jtag
but gta v was the only game which showed me the error while updating.. so i went to a local xbox repair shop to get an update.. but it didnt brick my console
just asking can we update jtag with the update that comes with the dvd or torrents??
or i should do that tech stuff.. getting cpu key and that nand thing blah blah

to update a jtagged console one has to go through the cpu key blah blah method, IMHO.

I am on 2.0.16197.0, all games are working fine except THIEF even Castlevania LOS2 is working fine....so my question is should i update my dash or is it fine with current dash???

You need atleast 2.0.16537 to play thief..Fortunately my S.S is on 16537..Get it updated via an experienced friend..

Aoa, yeah i thought the same Couple of weeks ago, that it might be hard, It was Really easy, Just Follow the steps, Copy original Nand Via Software, get CPU key, Create new nand using Software and Then apply it, no need to worry, Just follow the steps

Aoa, I have a question guys..... i wanted to know that is it safe that i can just simply download the update from the original xbox site, transfer the file to a USB stick and then connect the USB to my xbox and then the xbox automatically detects the update and ask to update? Would it effect the Xex menu? or the games which i have in it??
I have a jtagged xbox 360, 250 GB internal.....

no thats not the way to go, Follow the proper Tut in which you Backup Nand and stuff
