[SOLVED] Internet Exchange Point!

So i was reading today some articles about "how to reduce ping(you know what a typical pakgamer would do)" until a found a thread where a guy was talking about Internet Exhange Point being built in Islamabad which will decrease the ping like hell from 100-200 to 10-100 ( which sounds extremely awesome) and then he said it would be finished up in next two months and the articles was written 20 , November , 2015 ( so i thought it was fake like most em are ) but when i started searching about "Internet Exchange Point" there were dozens of articles of New Internet Exchange Point but i doubt that cuz still there has been no difference in ping since last year and this year (until april - the present day )


so i was thinking does any one actually know what happened to so called "Internet Exchange Point"??



P.S: if you want to search about it on google then SEARCH ABOUT IT ON GOOGLE and if you are too lazy i can also provide a link to one of the articles i was reading

@OP I found the articles, the exchange points with only reduce latencies for local traffic, so online gaming won't be affected unless PTCL fixes their crap routing and invests in GPON and replaces DSL entirely.

Local peering points are already operational afaik. But this is only for local traffic i.e. traffic within the country e.g. if you're on worldcall and want to play on a PTCL server you would get 300ms ping but due to these peering points you get around 50ms.

As long as game servers are located in foreign countries you will have high pings. It's got very little to do with local peering points. Pings are a measure of latency and latency is a function of geographical distance. So you will always have high latency when connecting to servers in North America or Europe.

A computer in Pakistan communicating with another computer in Pakistan via the internet. P2P traffic and traffic to and from CDN servers in Pakistan. Without local peering points these data packets might go to the west and then be routed back to Pakistan.

The problem is most traffic is client to server and servers are cheaper to host in North America/Europe so the benefits are limited. Websites, like this one for example, are almost all hosted in the west. Game servers too as mentioned above.
