Anyone has insight on Slpit AC's gas requirement. Everytime i get my Split AC cleaned, the electrician tells me that the gas needs to be refilled. It has become their culture these days to charge 2000 rs for getting gas filled.
How to know that the AC really needs gas refill. They bring the equipments for refill at home with some gas measuring instruments. I can intervene and check myself if ac really needs the gas refill.
Thanks.

well its a pressure gauge... every compressor has its specific value..
when u put that gauge on the gas entering and leaving valve.. u will see a reading on the gauge which tells u about the gas... i certainly dont knw about the specific reading.. u should have a cup of tea with Ac wala to ask that whts the appropriate reading :)

why dont u ask other person, get 2-3 person and have their opinion... nobody is honest in business :)

gas leak only in 2 cases....

Either u have leakage in your piping or The Ac wala is an jack ass, he doesnt store the gas and dismantle the AC directly

Or you can just make a guess on the cooling your AC is providing. If it's sufficient enough, don't bother to refill the gas. Atleast that was the idea I used.

Well ask him what bad can happen if he doesn't refill it this time? Ask him not to refill and you will call him if you find any problem regarding AC cooling.

And BTW 1000rs just for cleaning? MAN You have been mugged hard. I am living in the most expensive area of Lahore and they take maximum 600 for 1 AC if someone doesn't argue with them and if someone does, 400-500 done

Dear the gas pressure must be around 60 to 70 for best performance. Secondly, the gas will only need refill in case of a leak. So, instead of getting the gas filled out, ask the guy what is the cause of leakage. Get that fixed first and then tell him to fill the gas.

For example, my AC had a gas leak via the outer. It had a faulty cap which I got replaced and haven't got a leak since two years. The other AC had a leak this time around which hasn't had a leak since 9 years. The pipe between the AC and the outer had a leak, which I got fixed first and then filled the gas and that too not all. The pressure reading was around 30 to 40, so I just paid him 600rs to get the optimal pressure.

Third the gas quality. The best quality gas will give you excellent cold air. Inquire your technician before getting it filled. After getting the gas filled, run the AC for at least half an hour to determine the quality used. If you're satisfied, then pay the amount agreed.

Also you payed too much. The asking rate now days is 800rs which can be brought down to 500 or 600 hundred with proper negotiation.

If hes just refilling by bringing the gas cylender to your home then hes not doing his job properly.
He should take apart the ac, take it to his shop and then check for leakages and then repair those leakages by welding and then refill the gas.
About the reading on the gas meter, if the gas has leaked then the reading should reading ZERO.

I had gas filled in 2 of my ACs once every 1.5 years. With low gas, it works as if its blowing normal air. After gas, it chills the place. So you can figure out that if your AC isn't cooling sufficiently, then its time to fill gas in it :)

You should not need gas filling normally. If you feel that the cooling is not enough then get the gas pressure checked.

If the gas is low then filling is not the solution. You have to find the place of leakage. If it at the joints e.g where the pipes enter the outdoor unit then it is an easy fix. But if the leakage is in the indoor or outdoor unit you have to send the units to the workshop to get them fixed by welding.
And if you cover the indoor and outdoor with plastic covering in winters and clean the outdoor by spraying some water in it and periodically clean the filters and the fins of the indoor you would not need servicing every year.

The other technician i called had this compressor which i have seen in the refrigerators and when i asked him what is this for, he told me it is used to evacuate the air. So i think he knew what he was doing. Thanks everyone :)
Also i quarrelled with that other guy, he did the cleaning of other AC free of cost

Does the gas leak in the process of shifting a split AC?
I refilled gas last June and having it shifted from hostel to home, it gave less than normal cool air on the day of installation, but from 2nd day onwards it has been giving warm air.
What gives?
Has the guy intentionally unscrewed the gas storage, or it is normal after shifting?

It is not normal. He might have been lousy in fitting which caused gas leak when you turned on the ac

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.
