Improving the forum speed.... A Suggestion

Ok, so i'm not sure if i'm the only one but i feel that pakgamers isn't one of the fastest forums around, the overall site is kind of clunky and slow. I know that the site admin and the whole team works hard to maintain everything but i feel that there is always room for improvement.

So to check what factors on the site are reducing the site speed i did a gtmetrix scan, which showed this

As you can see, PG is given a 76% rank by Google and 59 by Yahoo, in simple terms this is quite bad. I'm not sure if Inferno knows about this or not, but i just thought that i should mention this. If the rank somehow goes to 85+ on pagespeed and 70+ on yslow, i'm sure the site will feel a lot faster.


Again, i'm not criticizing, this is just a suggestion to improve the forum.

yeah and sometimes it gets super-slow while other websites working al-right,
and we should think abt reducing homepage size too, 0.97mb isn't an overkill?

Theme is unique and awesome. No need to change that.

I dont think the site is that slow. I dont usually notice any difference between this and other sites. In fact, I think that PG is faster then FB. There is always room for improvement though.

Cant deny that.

I don't believe on these kind of online tools, they never give you accurate readings and yes I know the index page is getting heavy because of many sections + CSS + Text + images, I might add a lite version for people on slow connections..I am also aware of the fact that sometimes at night (GMT) time the site becomes quite slow, I know the problem and I will rectify it..

Now as far as the tool concern, I tried the test on the stock version of vbulletin: http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.vbulletin.com/YloKNGIkhttp://gtmetrix.com/compare/YloKNGIk/rotLRtN6 and the result was nearly the same..if speed means google.com like page than obviously it's impossible to do in our case.

That tool is the closest anyone can get to have an overview of any site. Optimization is the key here. With the help of gtmetrix i improved my site's performance a lot, so i know that it does work. Yes, you are correct that this isn't perfect, but something is better than nothing, right?

One more thing, speed and load time is of the key factors that google bot looks in a site, a fast site will be ranked higher in SERPS and would be given more importance compared to a slower one.

Like i said before, i'm not denying that you and the PG team isn't aware of the issues, you know better than me and the normal members. This is just a friendly suggestion.
