Improving rhythm guitar playing...Help needed.

K guyz it has been two months since i have started playing guitar.All the chord progressions are smooth and fast now but the problem i am having in is the rhythm.Its difficult to strum a tune of any song and i dont have any idea in what pattern do i strum.How could i improve my strumming to make make my rhythm better?Guitarists plz help!

Keep practicing. Watch live/acoustic performances of songs you want to cover. If you know someone who can play guitar, ask them to play the particular song for you, then observe closely the way they're playing it.

Strumming requires practice more than anything, so just keep at it. You'll get the hang of it one day.

Getting strumming patterns requires a certain amount of "looseness." You can't think too hard about or your hand will get caught up and won't do what you want it to. Just kind of let momentum take it and make small changes as you strum. It's better than trying to change everything all at once. in subjective it would be good to play ONE chord and only one chord. Just strum that one chord. To make it interesting sounding, start mixing up the strumming. By playing that one chord forcing yourself to find new ways to present it (i.e. new strumming patterns.)

You can also use Metronomes to help develop your strumming rhythm.

tHX gUYZ for ur help.And yeah i have the metronome software, but dont know how to use it.It just tick tocks.should i sync my strumming with those clicks?

^ yes, that's the whole point of a metronome.

Tip:

Let the metronome tick for about 5 to 6 times and memorize the ticking interval between the beats and then start playing along it...

Start with slow intervals and keep experimenting different speeds etc...

I tend to have problems when I'm following a slightly complex strumming pattern whilst singing. It's annoying ;_;

Start with one strum per click, and as you get better with it in time, then start practicing 2 strums per click, and then triplets.

I only tried playing + singing in the beginning... but i suck at singing even when im not playing....

Oh well.... i've never wanted to be a singer anyway.... SLASH FTW, BABY!!
