[SOLVED] iMac or Custom PC

Asalam o Alaikum!

I'm a PC user and I usually use my Rig for Editing purpose and entertainment [Movies, Songs and gaming (rarely)]. I've been thinking to upgrade my system or shift to iMac, my main concern is editing on the contrary I've never used an iMac before but I've heard its quite good when it comes to editing and Apple of course is reliable and has a longer life as compared to custom built PCs.

Are there any iMac users in the house who can help me whether I should go for it or not and if I should then which model and size would be better for me? All PC and iMac users or people who have experience of both platforms please guide me.

Few Queries

1) Is it possible to upgrade HDD and Ram on an iMac?

2) Which iMac to go for one with GPU or without GPU?

3) Is it possible to change the GPU of an iMac if it crashes?

4) Is it possible to install Windows in iMac and use both Mac OS and Windows?

5) After installing Windows in iMac can it be used without any hassle as we use or Windows based systems?

6) Can I use my ONKYO 5.1 Sound System on iMac?

7) Can external HDD be used on an iMac and up till how much capacity?

As far as a new Custom built Rig is concerned, all suggestions and advises would be appreciated.


My current system specs are as follows:-

- Core i7 2600K
- Gigabyte Z77-D3H Motherboard
- Corsair 8GB DDR3 667 MHz
- FSP 900W PSU
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti 1GB
- 5TB HDD
- 128GB SSD
- ONKYO 5.1 Sound System
- Corsair Carbide Air 540 Casing

Budget: 2 Lacs.

Requirements: Editing Purpose (not professional but photography and video making is my hobby on a personal level or you can say on a creative level lol)

New or used Machine: New of course.

Purchasing Location: Karachi (kindly recommend from where can I purchase one of the following machine i.e iMac or Custom Built Rig.

P.S I hope I'll get good suggestions and guidance from all of you Pakgamers, fingers crossed.

Wasalam, disclaimer: I have never used macOS apart from on some friends macbook , that too just for fun.
I would advice you to stick with windows because 2 Lacs is not a small amount to risk on something you might not like afterwards due to some xyz reason. For windows does every thing as expected, so no surprises.
Also if you want to keep your system for considerably long amount of time then I would definitely recommend a custom PC, in 2 Lacs you can buy a beast that can last you for at least 3 years premium. Also editing might require more amount of space and as you know storage on mac will be expensive whereas on custom PC you can use an internal HDD, you can also solve this problem with an external HDD with mac but they are not as reliable as internal HDDs and not that consistent as well.

Well, I got iMac 27" as a gift ALHAMDULILLAH. Now, I can built a custom pc but I've reduced my budget to 1.5 lac. If anyone can mention some good specs that'll be helpful.
