IELTS from British Council or AEO?

Salam guys. I wanted to know from where i should do ielts? Some people told me that there is some environmental difference in these two like in speaking aeo is friendly..i dont know.
So kindly suggest me as soon as possible.

I gave IELTS in islamabad from British Council and on the same day two of my mates gave it from AEO. In islamabad, the test centres are almost adjacent. Due to un-necessary hurry from one of them, we arrived almost two hours early. It was february and little bit cold. As AEO came first from the side we were coming, we went there. People were standing outside in the lawn and the guard was not letting anybody in the centre (which was actually quite good inside). So then we went to british council centre. There was proper seating for waiting and also a restaurant where we decided to wait it out and have breakfast. Later on after we gave tests, we compared the overall experience and mine was way better. The British Council had better staff (i went to AEO afterwards to meet up with my friends..the staff was rowdy even though it wasn't even crowded much)... There was better organization to British Council as well.... There is a myth that AEO gives better bands, I got better than my friends (8 to 7.5 and 7) and our language level isn't much different as well....Overall, i would advice you to go with British Council rather than AEO especially if u r giving it in isloo..:salute:.

Britsh Council also kept giving tips and advice leading to the test date through sms and emails so in terms of proper guidance there isn't much difference believe me...

ill be giving in Lahore...so again 2 people replied one is with aeo and other with British council....

I'd say go for British Council . I called up AEO office and the person who picked up the phone couldn't even talk properly in English which put me off so much that I was like no way I"m going for AEO . I decided to go for British council and the procedure was so friendly . Everything is online,just fill up the form ,select the date.You get an E-mail,print it out,go to standard chartered,pay the money and boom u got ur statement of entry ...

As for friendly staff,I had no such hassle with anyone in british Council . The person who took my speaking test was super nice although she was suffering from the cold ,she was a great listener . On the Test day ,reading writing etc that is . The staff was nice,they had a place where u could put ur belongings.Although there is alot of like security,bio-scanning and what not but with the current situation of Pakistan,it is mandatory . What kind of bothered me was that on my test day.My finger print wasn't scanning so they had to make me sit down for like 10-15 mins on the side but it worked afterwards .

Actually they both are same. It's totally depends on you. So Good Luck for it. I have given it through British Council in Islamabad. What's more you can get free 30 hours demos on the test on British Council at

I have given thru both aeo and British council.

I find british council to be well conducted and much better experience.

Planning to give this year in lahore thru british council. What is location in lahore for british coucil ?

Bcz its valid for 2 yrs. So have to take it again once 2yrs pass

now my requirment is to get 6.5 band, i bough cambridge ielts 7 8 9 books, are they good enough or should i read anything else? i would love some tips from people who have done this test.

practice alot for writing and reading, time your writing test by practising using stopwatch in front of you.
I practiced from barron's book and from the following links and got 6.5 bands

Apply through British Council - they'll send you a free account of this website, from where you can practice for the IELTS. I forgot the name of the website.
Just practice over there, and attempt the sample papers given on that website. And just be calm and focused during the IELTS. This is all that I did. I have a 8.0 band over-all.
and a 9.0 in listening and 8.5 in reading.
