An Xbox360 Core system with an Xbox360 20gb hard drive attached.

You will need:
  • Torx T10 driver
  • Torx T8 driver
  • Torx T6 driver (if you open the hard drive unit)
  • A strong pointy tool
Removing the hard drive:

To remove the hard drive you need to push down on the button, while pulling up on the sides of the drive.

Removing the faceplate:

Hold the 360 faceplate side up, stick a couple fingers into the usb port hole, and pull. It seems like you might be breaking something, but it does pop right off.

Removing the grey ends:

To make this easy, I will refer to sides as it would have when laying down and facing you.

I recommend starting with the right end, from the bottom first. Here is a picture of the right end from the bottom:

There are 3 tabs that need to be released, and they are behind the holes in the case. You will need some type of pointy hard tool to reach through the holes and push the tabs. Here are pics of the hard pointy tool I used, the locations of the tabs, and closeups of the tabs.

Use the pointy tool to push the left tab down, and force it outward until you can grab the end of the grey piece. While pulling out gently, push the middle tab out, then last release the one on the right.

Once the tabs are released, it won't pop itself back together, so you can let go. Now you need to repeat the same procedure on the other 5, starting at the one closest to the other end.

Flip the console over, so you're looking at the top side of the right end. The 3 tabs on this side should be simple, just release them and pull off the right grey end.

Once the grey right end is off, it will look like this:

Great! You got the easy end off, and learned some good technique to use on the left end. Flip the console so you're looking at the bottom of the left side. Notice that the leftmost tab is hidden under the rubber foot. Just pull the foot off, it comes off easily.

Start on the left tabs, and try to force the grey end out by pushing the tabs. Due to the left end being inset, it isn't possible to grab it with a finger (yes there's a good reason we aren't starting on the easy end). It takes more pushing with the pointy tool, but with a little careful work you'll get somewhere. The fun part is, there is a hidden tab underneath the raised right end. Once you have the 2 visible tabs released, stick your pointy tool into the hole as shown below. The idea is to slide your tool between the tab and the wall, and push the tab away from the wall so it will release.

With the hidden third tab released, it is simple to release the matching three on the top edge. With the end off, it will look like this:

Congratulations, you got the ends off! It was a pain but we're getting closer.
Voiding your warranty:

This sticker is your warranty. If you cut, lift, or remove this sticker your console warranty will be void. This means that you cannot return it to the store, or ask Microsoft for an exchange. To go any further, it is neccessary to remove or cut this sticker.

Removing the Case Bottom:

Turn the console so you're looking at the back side. Notice there are 2 small holes by the power supply plug, and another 5 on the other end. These holes are the locations of the tabs that hold the back of the case together.

Start on the end by the power supply plug. While pushing the top and bottom apart, push into the first hole. You have to push fairly hard, but you will hear a click when it releases. Next, do the same with the second notch.

Once the tabs are released, it won't pop itself back together, so you can let go. Now you need to repeat the same procedure on the other 5, starting at the one closest to the other end.

The center has a long tab which can be released just by pushing in on the bottom and lifting up on the top. The back edge of the case should be open now, but don't pull it open too far.

Flip the console over, so you are looking at the front, with the bottom side up. The front edge is held together with 4 tabs, these are easily released, and the bottom of the case will lift right off.

Removing the Case Top:

The top half of the case is held on by torx screws in the bottom. The internal parts are also held in place by these screws. The screws circled in blue can be removed with a T10 driver. The screws circled in yellow can be removed with a T8 driver. If you wish to only remove the case, then you only need to remove the screws marked with a red arrow. If you will need to take out the motherboard, then you will need to remove all the screws.

Flip the console right side up again. Begin to lift the right edge of the case, but only an inch or so. Before lifting the case off, you must pull the dvd ejectbutton outward, so the case can lift clear.

The top of the case should now be freed, and can be lifted off. There is some contact with metal shielding, but it does pull right off now.

Congratulations, you have the case off completely, and now have access to the internal parts!

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.
