How bad are Insignia PSUs?

So there's a seller in Hall Road, Lahore (Basit Computers, you may have heard about them) who's selling brand new Insignia 450W "Certified Gold" PSUs for 2,200 but the problem is this; I've NEVER heard about this brand before!

I've checked some reviews on Amazon and most reviewers are praising the price to performance ratio and good amperage but when I queried about the PSU on Tom's Hardware; everyone was like "It's pure garbage, will set your house on fire, will blow up your PC, will blow your head off" etc even though none of them seems to have any experience with the brand.

I've felt the PSU in hand and felt well built and quite heavy, so there MUST be some quality in there somewhere, right?

Right?!!

Plus, I've been using the crappy, featherweight PSU that came standard with my Dell Optiplex; for ages and it seems to be running quite well. So, how bad could that PSU be, eh?

Sorry about the rant. I'm a bit confused, that's all!

"How bad are Insignia PSUs", hey whatever did it do to you?

definitely won't burn your house down or blow your head off (might slice it off depending on the shrapnel from the casing if it blows)

just kidding haha

whether to buy it or not depends on your usage.
will your pc be having a power hungry gpu? (not recommended as it may burn the card under load)
or is the build just for routine browsing / office work etc? (most probably will work fine)

An unknown brand is never good. Get a reputed brand, there are many affordable options available.

Indeed. The mentioned brand is completely unknown.
Just search for locally available, well-reputable brands, like Corsair, Thermaltake, FSP. They have some good low range offerings.

"Certified Gold" would be their own version of determining the quality of PSU, this isn't 80 PLUS standard rating. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would refrain from buying something like it, even used (but known brand) psu would be a safer bet. As having a quality psu is crucial for your components health, in long term it is never worth it, if your psu goes bad it will likely take 1 or 2 components with it.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
