Help with GPU upgrade

Hello guys, I need your help. I am thinking about upgrading my GPU. Currently I have 4850 iceq4 and gaming on 1440*900. I am thinking about

• 4890
• 5770

I know 4890 is a good GPU but not sure it would get obsolete all of a sudden.How about 5770 and 2 more gigs of RAM ? Or should I wait for the prices to drop ?

I am not into eyefinity at all, only thing I might be interested in would be directx 11 but that too with good performance. Please advice as necessary, my cpu details are

• E8400
• 2GB DHX
• 500 Watts CM

Your resolution isnt that demanding, even 4850 is enough but as you want to upgrade, get 5770 with two gigs of ram.

4890 is slightly faster than 5770 but 5770 is new technology. Runs cool, overclocks well and consumes very low power. Even lower than your current 4850.

Not slightly slower, its about 20 percent slower guys/It does take a serious performance hit for the sake of directx 11 ?

1. Add another 2GB.
2. Get 4890 "IF" you are a Performance Lover.
3 (Optional): Get 5770 if you want DX11.

Be assured that you can find a used 4890 in or around 15-16k ... however the 5770 is costing 17k atm, and its slower in performance as compared to a 4890.

As far as your resolution is concerned, well it will be better if you choose a Good PERFORMER (i.e. 4890) because the upcoming games are now demeaning even more power.

Going For 4890 Now Is Not A Good Idea...If You Cont Every Bit And Wanna Spend On Performance No Matter What You Wanna Survive So then Get 4890 For Sure...!!

some of my frnds have 4890 and its quite high in temps which i realy dnt like.....its high on power consumption and i dont think the performance difference is that much becuz the new drivers have realy pumped the shit out of 5770....
5770 is new, cheaper 16.5k, DX11 (not a big deal though), consumes very less power making it even more cheaper in the long run, and runs realy cool, which makes it quiter aswell!!

u cud just get 5770 and spend on other upgrades becuz ur res isnt that big....however the choice is urz......but plz choose wisely

Hiya, can you show me any evidence of the new driver results you are talking about ? 5770 is still costly in terms of its performance. Its about a 4870, also it has less bandwidth bus 128 bit I think.

Yeah, 4890 are short these days. I hardly see them available in some months.

^ brother if you have a power supply that can handle 4890 then i suggest you 4890 and one more thing as abobo said add 2gb more ram and oh your have cm500 with dhx and e8400 now i don't suggest you 4890 on it 5770 is better for you at this time get 2gb more ram and 5770 in 16600

u cud get a cpu cooler if u dont have one in the money u save frm getting 5770.....that way u cud OC ur e8400 to a great extent...

and trust me...5770 did improve after the driver updates....i will look for the comparison chart and let u know soon.....and help wud be greatly appreciated by other members aswell...

and if u compare it to a 4870, its got many benefits that i believe cover up the price difference...dnt just believe the given specs on the cover....
