Best protection is not getting infected in the first place. That means staying away from questionable software obtained from questionable sources.

Haven't had a virus infection on my PC for nearly 4 years now.

I started using Kaspersky from v9 -> v12 -> v13 -> Now-a-days I am using Latest v14. Extremely satisfied... Just make sure you have enough Ram 2+ GB & Good PC or You will suffer performance issue.

They all are same ...all have the same virus signature database the only difference they have is the time taken to detect the latest threat and add it their signature database. Once you installed any of the antivirus they all work on the same pattern though neutralizing already infected pc shows different behavior for different antiviruses. IMO Kaspersky AV is the one that made it name by its extraordinary performance over the years.

You guys do know there's a big difference between "the best" and "my personal favorite"? For maximum protection, an AV is not enough, you need to use several things to be on the safest side. This includes, Anti Malware, Virus, and some plugins/extensions for your favorite browser.

I recommend a good paid Internet Security + Malwarebytes' Anti Malware combo or if you want free alternative, Microsoft Security Essentials / Avast Free AV with Search and Destroy.

yes man i tried & it was really new experience for me it cleaned all viruses but i never ever like as heavy loaded antivirus as AVAST is (although i tried it on Core i3)

i uninstalled it after clean all viruses & then again install ESET NOD32 which is lowest loaded antivirus !!!
