Salam to all PG Members... I have a question about bottlenecking I recently upgraded my GPU from GTX 760 to GTX 970 Zotac APM! Extreme Core Edition... I noticed that some games like Crysis 3, Assassins Creed Syndicate and Witcher 3 Drops down the FPS to 30s or Below especially Crysis 3 and Witcher 3 when I set graphics to Ultra high at 1080P but when I search gamplays on Youtube with almost same system specs the video shows games running at 40-55 FPS with all settings Maxed out at 1080p.... Can anyone guide me whats the problem ?? is my Mobo bottlenecking the GPU performance or Processor ?? or RAMS ??

My System Specs are:

Processor : Core i5 - 3330 (3.0 GHZ)
MOBO: Intel DH61WW (it has PCI express 2.0 not 3.0 [I think this is causing the FPS Drop])
Ram: 8GB DDR3 (1333)
GPU: GTX 970 4GB
PSU: Corsair RM 750 Modular Gold 80+
HDD: 2.3 TB

Thanks in Advance.. :)

1- Scan your system with malwarebytes look for bitcoin miners on your system, when done cleaning try your games, if still low follow 2

2- Run 3dmark11 and compare your physics score with other similar processors, if its about 2-3k lower than them, update your boards Bios

In Witcher 3, Gameworks might be the reason as to why you are getting low performance.

Two things you can do to improve performance:
1) Upgrade the game to the latest patch.
2) Install game ready drivers for Witcher 3 if you haven't already done so.

I have an i3 2100, Zotac 970 (normal edition), and 10 GB RAM and it works pretty well for me when Hairworks is off and population is set to medium (because of my low end processor). It is always around 37-50 or so FPS with these settings.

Considering that you have a proper 4 physical core i5 3rd gen processor, the issue probably doesn't lie in bottle-necking, rather it might lie in OS issues, viruses, outdated drivers, or outdated game version etc. Maybe you have certain settings forced through the Nvidia Control Panel that are eating through your performance.

Pci 2.0 is not the issue. No gpu as of yet has been limited by it. I recommend you follow CyCo's advice.

Moreover, both the games you mentioned are cpu intensive (Witcher and Crysis) but drops below 30 are abnormal.

Bro i3 with a 970 not a good option.
u can use the card with its full potential with memory intense games like witcher 3 or GTA V
they will sure be a decrease in Fps..
but u can change the resolution...
keep it a bit lower and u shall be good.
but an i5 would be the best combo for 1080p gaming...... :)

its not a bad option either, you will only get 2/3 FPS difference on AVG FPS when comparing with i5 , but your lowest FPS count will get a hit of about 10fps but only in CPU intensive games and these are like only 2/10 titles.

My drivers are up to date but windows contains malware i think...

Nope. They have a very valid case. The above video explains it all.

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.
