I think if you post in the below mentioned "Official Chartered Accountants thread" link, more people related to the field will catch your attention. (mention "name" of senior person of the thread in your post)

http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f163/unofficial-chartered-acoountants-thread-125543/

I am from the same field and i think getting selected in any of the big four firms you mentioned will guarantee you a good job placement once you complete your article-ship. For your own interest you can gather information about which clients are associated with a firm. Also there is a culture of sitting late in different firms which can effect your study routine and you can also look into this factor before entering a firm.

Congrats on sitting CA inter exams. The recruitment season is about to start. Found this on the internet, might help you:

Pakistan ACCA » Deloitte Started Recruitment of Audit Trainees for 2012 Session

BTW Big4 usually prefer hiring trainees who have qualified CA inter, but I know a few people who managed to get the position of internees in the said firms before becoming student trainees when they qualifyied inter. Good luck!!!

Obviously in pakistan, AFF has a very good reputation and most of the people in ICAP are ex-AFF trainees and plus alot of people in industry holding top positions are also from AFF. So if you plan to stay in Pakistan, AFF is number 1 without a doubt.

2nd is KPMG.. , 3rd EY and 4th Deloitte as per my understanding. KPMG is also a very good firm.. EY gives preference to ACCA's mostly and EY sends its trainees to secondments alot (Dubai, Saudia etc) so if you want to go abroad within your articleship then try to get in EY.

^^ this attitude is not accepted by any of firm specially when job market is that much competitive (sm1) do hard work and you will get result beside late sitting is good for you as more time you spend in professional learning more good for your career rather then Bookish learning .

Pay for late sitting? Lolz no..

If you stay after 9, then you can make a voucher for travel from your office to your home.. Like if you go from II Chundrigarh road to your home in Gulshan then you can charge around 15-20km with 20rs per km so you'll get around 300-400rs for staying after 9 but if you go before 9 you dont get anything.

Secondly there is no concept of overtime during articles.. You are given leave balance of 130 days at the start of your articleship.. you have to manage this balance for the rest of your 3.5 years articleship.. If you get absent, your leave balance decreases and every 10 hours that you do overtime, you'll get 1 day credited to your leave balance.. If you go on exam leaves, it will be deducted from this leave balance as well. If at the end of your articles your leave balance goes in negative then you have to serve for free the amount of negative days your leave balance is in.

AFF is definitely the best audit firm in Pakistan. The core reason being the scale of its operation in Pakistan and globally (PWC). However, I have heard that securing an internship there is not an easy job and you need to have at least one merit certificate.

Thats a misconception.. There are many students in AFF who do not have merit certificates.. However you need to be good in studies to get in AFF.. Mostly people who have cleared A to D module in first attempt are taken but there are quite a few who had 1-2 papers referred, they are also considered and taken in AFF.

Let me correct myself, I actually meant that having a merit certificate would guarantee admission in AFF otherwise its a little difficult.

all bulls**t regarding firms floating here
firms need people not robots that could learn all and do whatever they want.
when a person is not selected in a particular firm he makes his weakness a mandatory criteria for firm. all rubbish.

Very informative thread you have going here. I'm an ACCA student, hope to pass 8 papers in the next 12 months (wish me luck)
To the best of my knowledge, you get articles in two ways.

1. The Pakistani way: Average-good in studies and a strong reference. This method is for those with well-connected parents who can get them a major 'sifaarish'.

2. The meritful Pakistani way: Good-excellent in studies. Mediumish reference (below partner level). <-- Thats how my sibling got articleship in KPMG.

why the hell people dont know what reference in the form means... it means to have someone to tell that what you have said in the form is all right.... people don't put reference and firms dont want "laawaris" people
