Agreed. In fact I know people who manage to crawl through with an A even if the teacher is crap through intense self-study.

Got a good point there I guess.
In PAF Chapter, the "dream uni" of 90% of people is IBA for business or NUST for engineering -__-

But still, I think if some student from XYZ school had a slightly stronger application (both academically and in terms of extra curricular) than a chap from KGS or Aitchison, an Ivy school would probably still give preference to the latter solely because of his affiliation with a prestigious institution (not saying that's a good enough reason to ditch other schools and go for KGS, just making a general point).
Only if the chap is headboy at Aitchison or KGS.

Sexually deprived (lmao)
It is usually the mentality when one graduates from O levels. I was merely helping him out. But a little eye candy doesn't hurt once in a While. :p
Sub drame hain yaar, when you get out into the real world and have some proper mature friends (girls or boys) they are worth alot more than any of these faltoo chicks we have in school.

Finally another sensible person in this thread! Thank god!

Yes, I rate Nixor above Pats. Any reason why I shouldn't? Just cause Pats is 150 years old doesn't mean that its better than Nixor. And yes, its hard for many people in Pakistan to afford a levels. And tuitions aren't cheap. I know people who pay the outrageous school fees, then take tuitions for all the subjects. Think about how much burden that puts on their parents. Many kids nowadays don't realize the value of money. They don't realize how hard their parents have to work just to make sure that they can go to a good school. Nixor is very costly, but then it doesn't give its students the option to take tuitions. This way, the students would be forced to go home and do self study, and this would help them become independent. You can't rely on someone else all your life.
When you say they dont give the option to take tuitions, what if their students do go for tuitions, school ko batana zarooree hay? :|

St. Michael's had that too, I studied there :S

Pathetic rules fail to amuse me.

They're not letting me give Business, being a science student, particularly because I didn't take it as an option, OR study it afterschool. WTF. I fucking have no idea why I didn't inform them of giving it before studying the shit.

__

Another one I know of through my cousin when he gave his O'levels from a particular school which I don't remember was that they were to give 8 principle subjects in their o'levels and THAT'S IT. They couldn't take any more. Not even privately. A friend of my cousin gave two premature private olevels, and the school found out and expelled him. Not that it matters in the end result, but that's bullshit.

Southshore has a MUN, since when?

And you are the last person he needs advice from. Complete your O levels, son. And its An O level student.
He said he isn't expecting good grades. Try for Lyceum and Pats. And If you can afford, go to Nixor.
since this year, ShoreMUN.Its my last year at O levels and I'm stuck in the same position as the OP.Oh and thank you very much for pointing out my grammatical mistake, I'll next time be careful using swype.

lol i have certificate for darul sukoon 50 hours of community service ohh yeah i knwo i am good :D but 6As thats s hard i aleardy have a double b and a c turns out i am not good in islamiyat
Nothing's hard mate. I know people with straight 16A*s including 5 World + 1 Lahore distinction. The thing you need is DETERMINATION. Once you're determined, and focused to achieve a certain goal, it's possible. It's not hard at the. That very person is possibly the most active I've seen in co-curriculars DURING his O'Levels, so please, no such 'studies all day' type rants.

As far as community service is concerned, I'm afraid that counts for very little. I've had A LOT of internships; World Bank, there was this leather company which I've forgotten, an MLC Paint company (Jotun), Honda and several NGOs. It came as a shock to my delusional beliefs that these internships' and 'communal service' accounted for close to NOTHING at school/college level. It's the Universities that see that, and when you're applying for jobs, that's when they come in action.

The thing Universities (and Schools/Colleges) see more is how good you are in * competitive* co-curriculars. This includes Debates, MUNs, more public speaking, Business Model competitions, etc. Get my rift?

Does getting into schools like "Nixor" or "KGS" or "Lyceum" effect our further addmission in universities or applying for jobs? What if somebody like me who plans to study his uni years abroad will this have an influence so I can get into a better uni abroad?

Yes. It does. Get into KGS if you're eyeing Ivy.

You have no idea. I've been in Grammar for the last 15 years and it's my month in school, and for the last 7 years I've been trying to figure out what the hype is about :p I realized now that it's not the academics or the facilities, it's the name that KGS has abroad. That's our main strength. Basically, if you have the same grades and shit in Lyceum that you would have gotten in if you were in Grammar, your chances of getting into a good college are already lower just because you're in Lyceum. It's even worse for Nixor because they don't have college counseling figured out yet, nor do they have any real reputation abroad.

I've no idea about FPS.

In BSS and City you can get scholarship on these grades:

5 A: 25% (Only in BSS, no scholarship on 5 A for City School)
6 A: 50%
7 A: 75%
8 A: 100%

These scholarships do not apply on Laboratory fees

Total fee for most City and BSS schools is around 27k Plus 4k per lab (Physics, Chemistry, Bio, Computing) for TWO MONTHS.

I don't think the admission fee will be rescinded anywhere. Only the tuition fee will be waived. If you think you have a shot, then Grammar is the place. They offer financial aid. So does Lyceum. Beacon and City, where its the easiest to get scholarships, aren't exactly renowned for their faculty.
