Over-ear
1.Beyerdynamics DT-990 premium 32ohm (if u don't have any dap n prefer open backs otherwise 250ohm pro
2. DT 880 premium 32ohm
3. Fostex TR-90 Semiopen

But if u can increase ur budget to $250 then Hifiman He400i (plannar magnetic) r available for $249

Or the most recommended two options
Sennheiser HD598 (Openback - $150 / Closedbacks $99)
Audiotechnica ATH M50X ($109)

thank you soo much for the input ill check these.

Superlux HD668b are excellent for the price, but they are a bit treble heavy and are no match for Takstar Hi2050 in terms of overall sound and comfort. Sadly Takstar Hi2050 are no longer available for less than $50 :(

Kindly inform us a bit more about your preferences. Do you want open back or closed back? Do you prefer bass, treble or neutral? What will be the source (AMP+DAC) for these headphones?
it can open back or closed back, looking for something neutral sound. Buddy i have dont an amp (possibly let me know as reasonable amp too)

he want it for wearing during workouts..., will power it with iphone directly....., not an audiophile but loves bass so closed back will be nice for him....., i recommended earphones but he is not comfortable with those

It Depends on the Price Range bro, But for his music taste I would recommend V-Moda Crossfade M-100, Or the Audiotechnica ATH M-50x (or M40x if he's looking for something a bit cheaper), Another option is the beats studio 2.0.

@mac007 I don't have extensive headphones experience but what I have used I can recommend from that
Sennheiser HD598 Closedbacks ... Really love them, usually retail at 120-150 but they were selling for as less as $99 in last week, easy to drive, MacBook iPhone n HTC M9 make them scream easily and I'm sure with a decent amp like FIIO E10k they would sing better (just 23ohms) but I'm not sure if they will be useful during workouts

I also have Marshall Monitor I think they have just beautiful sound, love EQs and the lows, they have just better lows than 598s. Last night I was listening to a few songs of A perfect circle and felt some mid lows which 598s couldn't deliver. Costs just around $100 and build quality is top notch, clamping force is decent and for normal ear size person they r over ears and will definitely be good during workouts as they r not easy to shake-off ur head
Sennheiser Urban XL can also be a choice
I would recommend any wireless solution like Momentum 2 or Bose soundtrue or QC25 (If QC35 is too expensive) cause wired headlines will be difficult to manage
Vmoda crossfade wireless can also be a good option but $250+

If ur friend has decent budget ask him to try if he can buy these planner magnetics ... Monoprice M560, they have amazing build quality and one of the best features is they can be open backs or closed backs ... And cost just $199 at the moment but will increase ... If I had not purchased HE400i I would have gone for these ...
Easy to drive and sound well plannars can do anything, but for workouts ... Hmm not so many reviews out yet but they have not that strong clamping force ...

Hay there I'd say go for the options mentioned by opethian and you can also consider the beats solo 2 or 3 depending on the budget and 3 can connect wirelessly and its a comfy over the ear headphone with good sq and its quite handy for a workout session

i was also opting for ATH M-50x as those may be available locally.... but he wants something wireless (if possible in his 20k budget) so beats studio 2.0 will be a good option, will check for its reviews then finalise... thanx

Although in my opinion over ear headphones are not suitable for workouts. But if he wants good quality over ear wireless headphones with good bass within 20k budget then Sony MDR-XB950BT are the best option in that budget in my opinion.

Got my Hifiman HE-400i today :D ( amaga rocks :wink2:)

I checked them with different sources to see what can drive them satisfactorily.

- My laptop (Sony Vaio 14") can't drive them very well. At max volume they reach reasonable sound level.
- My phone (Xiaomi Mi5) certainly struggles and at full volume the sound is barely reasonable.
- Creative Soundblaster Z can drive them easily. At 50% volume the sound is too high for my listening.
- Fiio E10k can drive them very easily. At volume 5 (8 full) they sound louder than I would listen to. And that is at low gain.
- I tried them on my mp3 player (Benji S5) expecting them to sound too low. But surprisingly Benji S5 can run them to reasonable level at full volume (about the same volume as my laptop).
- I tried Topping NX1 with both my phone and Benji S5. On the phone I had to run Topping NX 1 at high gain to get good volume. But on Benji S5 topping NX1 could run them very well even on low gain.

Hi, can anyone suggest good headphones for around $150?
I am thinking of Bluedio Victory headphones.
Have u considered Philips SHP9500? Best headphones in $100
Another option in sub $150 which I own myself is Sennheiser HD598, i have closed backs (HD 598 CS) but open backs are famous for their neutral sound and sound stage
Also check Beyerdynamics DT 770 (Closed) DT 880 (SEMI OPEN) and DT 990 (OPEN) but try to find 32ohms or 80ohms variants if u dont have any amp etc
And Audiotechnica M50X is also worth Buying for their contact sturdy design n great sound

I don't have any idea about what u have considered so my apologies

Thanks for your suggestions. Do you or anyone know a good place from where I can buy these headphones or importing them is the only option?
