[h=1]Microsoft Turns Entire Country Into Halo 4 Theme Park[/h]
Lichtenstein is a tiny, tiny country of just 62 square miles and 35,000 citizens. It actually also happens to be one of the richer countries in Europe, with a low tax rate and unemployment, and apparently a total willingness to rent the entire place to any company with deep enough pockets.
Which is how a tiny country in Europe became a
Halo 4 theme park for a day.
Working with the government to renovate and alter various locations around the country, Lichtenstein was turned into a new front of the war that runs through the Halo franchise's story. Among the locations:
- Gutenberg Castle, which has stood since the 13th century, was turned into a military installation, right down to Master Chief actually guarding the country's borders.
- A quarry was repurposed as a battlefield for Master Chief to blast his way through, complete with explosions.
- And a farmer's field was turned into a military camp.
Overall, press and fans were walked through a two-hour story that climaxed with their playing the game for the first time.
Our Take: We're not really sure how you can top renting an entire country to plug your game but we're sure somebody's thinking about how to top it. Ball's in your court, Sony.
