Haha, it's not about playing it a certain way, it's about sounding a certain way. If you try both those things, you will realize that there is a subtle difference in how the riffs in that song sound when played with alternate picking and when played solely with down-strokes. It is a subtle difference, but it's kinda essential if you wanna get that steady, blood-pumping rhythm that Master has.

True. And it's not even a subtle difference either. It is very, very noticeable.

Maybe you just need some break from music. Busy yourself with something else, then after a good while, tune in your guitar!

Amen! I'd do ANYTHING to get the spark back on. I'm not quitting playing actually (its harder than I thought) but I won't be learning any new songs. Just going to focus on my technique now.
So, April 14th it is. No more music from now.

Find some new music to listen to. I can't imagine why any guitarist/musician would limit themselves to listening to only one/two/specific genres of music, but if you do, listen to something completely different.

That always works for me.

BTW, I might quit guitar. Its not because i'm frustrated or giving up. I've just lost interest in music altogether. I can not even enjoy listening to my all-time favorite songs anymore. I played guitar after 6 days today, which marks the longest gap I've had without playing guitar ever since I started. I've never relished anything more than music, and to sever my ties with something I considered a part of myself.... this is so heart-breaking.

Eh, been away from the scene for a long time now.

Got some thick 12 gauge strings recently, tuned my guitar to a B. Strings are still a bit wonky, but sounds good.

Eh, not as much as I had thought. I mean, sure, the scooped mid heavy distorted metal sound is pretty awesome, lots of low-end growl. But I thought I'd be able to make something interesting happen with the setup clean and crunchy. No such luck. Good as a metal gimmick perhaps, but I'm restringing it back to 10s and a regular E soon.

As In tune the whole guitar down two steps to a D and then drop the low D to a C or move the whole thing down 4 steps to C? Two different things.

Either way, even with 12s they sound way too "flibbery", if you know what I mean. I get a fucking awesome vibrato thought! The low tension helps me quaver those strings and the low growl makes them sound nice. But I guess the only way to really have fun with downtuning is to get a baritone. Might be my next purchase, maybe.

The basic drop C is C G C F A D..
Kill switch engage, BFMV, AILD most of the metal bands use them for heavy and clear riffs.... Settle the aciton, lower the tension...enjoy the riffs and Pinch harmonics

So, I have it a listen. Excellent work as always! The perfect soundtrack for taking off at night. The mix was a little bass heavy, although I think that was intentional. Keep it up. That ambient stuff is growing on me.
