Ok so now here's the thing .. guitar rig does not work on my new laptop and frankly I wasnt really fond of it so now I need a sorta beginner guitar effects processor..

Now the 2 best options are Boss GT 10 and Pod x3 live but both seem kinda professional and I dont think I'll be able to put them to use fully .. since i am a relative beginner and they are also kinda expensive

So my dad's in Karachi for a few days and I thought maybe I could one from there..

Now playing without distortion is not fun at all .. so for a start I think maybe a simple distortion pedal or effects processor or whatever they call it would suffice...

So now I need suggestions on which relatively beginner effects processor to get.. distortion mainly but it should allow me to vary the distortion from like lets say from classic rock style to heavy metal stuff...

also it shouldn't be too expensive as it would be my first..

So please all your suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Quick replies needed

Thanks!

I had the Boss GT 8; and honestly it was the loveliest multi-effects pedal I had ever heard up till that time. It was quality. Excellently built and very customizable.

From what I've heard, the GT 10 doesn't really improve upon the GT 8 all that much. Apparently they just added the USB connection, that's all.

I wasn't a fan of the POD overall. Line 6 has amazing super high-gain distortions, work well with extreme metal and stuff. Everything else was soft. But that is way back in the day the first POD was out; things might have changed since then.

So, I don't know! Go for the POD, why not? It's gaining popularity, must be for a reason.

Overall, always go for quality over quantity. Something that does 5 effects well is always going to be better than something that does 30 effects moderately okay-ish. Trust me, crap sounding effects will bore you after a while.

You should also look into the Boss ME 70. It replaces the ME 50, which is something else I totally loved and adored, sold it to a friend of mine when I got the GT 8. I love the simple stomp-box load-out, and it does the quantity over quality thing perfectly.

I always recommend the Korg Pandora to budding guitarists. It let's you play through the headphones and even has drum beats and stuff and let's you record stuff and play over it. A great learning tool. I still have my PX4, I love it, helps me get back into playing after I haven't touched my guitar for a while.

^ No offense to Hammad, but Zoom sucks. I mean, sure, it's good for about 5k bucks. But like I said, effects that sound bad will bore you very quickly.

It all depends on where you're getting it from. I mean, can you get ANY effect processor? I don't know which ones are readily available in Karachi. But I'm sure the options are very limited. First, you should find out which ones they have available.

Hammad's unit (sic) isn't such a bad idea for beginners, though. If all else fails, get it.

What's wrong with Guitar Rig? I'm using Amplitube and I think it's better than all the other multi-effect pedals I've ever used.

Well guitar Rig doesnt always work on my laptop for some reason and the connections and sstuff dont always work .. so ..

well if I can get any effect processor then can you please short-list a few cheap beginner ones for me ( like the zoom G2 ).. Ill try to find these first and if I cant them then I'll get the zoom G2 ,,, I eventually plan on getting either the Boss Gt or the pod x3 but not now maybe in a few months when my bro comes back from the UK ill ask him to bring one for me
But until then... ... ..... ....

I never said that it's the best one out there. Obviously, separate stomp boxes will always sound way better. But considering the price, I'd say the zoom g2 is pretty good. Of course you can adjust the sound of every effect to your liking and stuff. And that too has a neat little drum machine. Not the advanced type but again good enough for beginners.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
