He forgot because HDR isn't important without an OLED display, which he doesn't have. Much like CerebralTiger 🤷‍♂️🤣

It's better in most ways tbh, and that was Alex's conclusion as well. LOD and AF are the only notable areas that are lacking in comparison. Rain reflections being blurrier likely comes down to the resolution being lower than the PC version running at a higher res.

Alex didn't mention the faster cars in GTA Online. I'm not aware of this, but is it possible to apply mods to make cars faster and also play online in the PC version?
I mean after 6 year gap from the PC version and a brand new console one wouldn't be wrong to expect a ps5 version blowing PC version out of the water. But I just don't see it here, it's very minimal effort port yet again by Rockstar. The jump to ps3 to ps4 version was indefinitely better than this one.

Nope, Rockstar warns about custom modifications when accessing online, even when the trainer disables itself

HDR? PC version can run via auto HDR by Microsoft:

Ofcouse Alex didn't even mention HDR In his video, the bigger feature would be freesync, that the ps5 doesn't have right now.

But Auto HDR isn't nearly as good as native HDR support, as this game demonstrates :p

Imagine actually believing such heresy 🤣

I agree, they definitely could've done much more. But, realistically speaking, they're already working on the next GTA, so it likely wasn't a priority for them.

On the other hand, when I look at the upgrades Sony has been charging $10 for on PS5 (Uncharted LoT Collection, Ghost of Tsushima), this compares favorably. The only worthwhile upgrade from them was for Spider-man Remastered, but that was for $20 (and bundled with Miles Morales).

Of course, a free upgrade would've been ideal, but only a few games have offered that thus far, and even fewer ones have been worthwhile (e.g. Metro Exodus and Ghostrunner).

Yup ofcouse. The native implementation of HDR will almost always be better.

For me it's still very unimpressive, I have been playing GTA V with graphics mods for years now and when compared to them it does nothing better aside from those ps5 shadows mostly. Also that horribly low lod and draw distance is something worth being upset about. I have been maxing out that draw distance slider since my GTX 1060, core i5 3rd gen days!

Edit: I forgot to mention, but the addition of that per object motion blur will be a great feature! Because GTA V felt very laggy in 30fps on older consoles. This addition will significantly smooth out ( or at least in perception) the game specially while driving

1440p better than 2160p ?

wah saeen ye kese hogaya ?
Debatable. It's because of that new temporal anti aliasing which fixes the much needed jagfest that GTA V is on all platforms but specially consoles. However with the addition of Nvidia DLDLS, one can have a sharper yet relatively stable image quality on PC as compared to this ps5 release. So no, not better when DLDLS is accounted for.

Does DLDLS fix the shimmering/dithering artifacts on PC with in-game AA disabled?

Even if it does, RT sun shadows, native HDR, per object motion blur, faster load times, are still notable improvements over the PC version. The trade-off with inferior LoD and AF is more than worth it, imo.

Yes, with txaa and dldls it clears out that shimmer crawling effect quite well. I also use Nvidia sharpening filter to counteract that blurriness caused by temporal based solutions. In addition to that you can use a FSR mod to get that sweet 60 fps locked experience if you are getting frame drops below 60 because that txaa plus dldls combination can be quite heavy at times

That's personal preference, I know this version is newer but that lod popin and bad draw distance will still be very distracting but let's say we agree that this is now the better version than the PC version. The problem is we are only comparing to to the stock PC version, while you have seen what it can really look like when it's modded

It can be better than games that natively support it, as RDR2 demonstrated 🤣

As for GTAV HDR, still waiting on your analysis of it, on a not at all game changing non-OLED 🤷‍♂️🤣

Alex didn't care about it either 🤷‍♂️

And in a game where the controls are awful and unresponsive, the ability to run the game at 100fps+ is the actual feature you are still missing. You know, the one that will impact gameplay the most. 🤷‍♂️

Good thing GTA V's HDR implementation is excellent. Besides being inferior, Auto HDR can also add input latency 🤷‍♂️

Higher frame rates bring minimal improvement in input latency in games that have a lot of animation priooority, as RDR 2 has demonstrated. I'm playing in first-person mode (when not driving), where this is much less of an issue. 🤷‍♂️
