Rage Team plan to modernise 2001 game with GTA IV tech

A team of seven game modders are in the process of modernising Grand Theft Auto 3 using the Rage engine that powered its successor, GTA IV.The group, known as the GTA III Rage Team, will package together a number of mods it has already worked on, such as GTA III HD Cars, GTA SA: Liberty City, Project Oblivion and GTA III HD.

The aim is to recreate the entire game using the Rage engine. No dates have been set for when the mod is expected to be completed.

Bring it on ! Would love to play this. But someone needs to do the same with San ANdreas. Maybe an year from GTA V's release we could have a SA on GTA V engine. Epicness at its best

You are jokin' right? The water, the buildings & vehicles & lighting all are GTA 4 stuff! Rage Engine stuff!

Still a work in progress! Not completely transformed yet!

This game is getting a full graphics re-makeup.

Modding can significantly enhance replayability factor of a targeted game. In addition, modding activities can attract more customers.

Modding efforts are mainly limited to PC applications.

There's no missions etc yet, but the city, vehicles and almost all other things are there.

ok I get that you can Mod games on pc but not on the ps3...but I mean will this game come to the consoles....i meant a remastered version of GTA3

Pay attention to the lighting, vehicles, water, guns etc. Especially the lighting!!!

That answers my question...i was thinking it was a remake by Rockstar....i would love to see a HD remake of GTA San Andreas

Gta : San andreas is my favourite in the entire series, no doubt Gta v would be awesome since its also based in los santos / las venturas etc
