Gpu (preferably new) in 26-30k. Gtx 960?

Aoa. I am planning to buy a new gpu, ever since my gtx 460 died around 5 months ago i have been using a 9400 gt (lol). I plan to game at 1080p max and the gtx 960 really caught my eye. Reasonable price and good performance. So should i go for the 960 or are there any other alternates?
Ps. My mom would absolutely murder me if i spend over 30k on the gpu.
Pps. Help would be very much appreciated.

Asus Strix is better and go for the 4GB variant.

Since most of the future games will be requiring more than 2GB vram.

You won't be able to play everything at Ultra but most of them.


I played The Witcher 3 yesterday on an i7 3770 and GTX 970, all ultra settings at 1080p and the fps would drop to 25-26 at most of the places.

960 is awsome go for 4gb variant as some one else said. Gigabyte g1, asus strix and evga ssc (i hope I'm right) 2.0 all are good.

Witcher 3 on 1080p doesn't even go near 2 GB. Its just some effects that are dragging GPUs down i.e hairworks, shadows etc. 4 GB 960 is overpiced at the moment. Going for a 970 would be a lot better but it isn't possible in 30k then there is an option of a 780.
