Xbox One will get Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, a remastered Gears of War on Aug. 25, in the 10th anniversary year of the original's launch, Microsoft announced today at its E3 news conference.
A one-week public beta of the game already is underway, said Rod Fergusson, head of Gears' home studio The Coalition.

The news confirms several earlier rumors that a re-release is on the way. The latest, a retail listing overseas this weekend, said Gears of War Ultimate Edition will feature additional content that was only available on the game's PC release in 2007.
Additionally, gameplay features from Gears of War 3 will be applied to the remastered game, and characters from later games in the series will be available in multiplayer.

Wow Chhowni
I was expecting a Gears 1, 2 & 3 collection announcement along the lines of Halo MCC. But no worries, backwards compatibility :fenix:

Hmmm seems like MS doesn't mind its exclusives getting shared on Windows. Sea of Thieves, Rare's new IP, is also coming to PC.

I wonder how @Journeys End feels about this :p

chalo shukar hai...we'll get to see some of the xbox exclusives on a pc as well :)
PC already has the original Gears with the additional content. And MS studio published games have been releasing on PC for quite some time now. Not much has changed now.

hain ...not all the parts right?
or are there?
Just the first part, and the Ultimate Edition is a remaster of that. So this doesn't point to the possibility of more exclusives on PC.

Even though I dont see what MS has to lose by porting over the rest of the X360 Gears games (or X360 Halo series for that matter) at this point, it's unlikely to ever happen. MS will maintain their stance as they always have, releasing less major/significant releases on PC as a token of their support. Let's not forget that even Alan Wake had to be self-published by Remedy and MS never intended to release it on PC.

Does the existence of a PC version of Sea of Thieves (Rare's new IP) point to it?

Or maybe this?

Would these make for the first batch of MS published games to be released on PC? No.

Did you know Sea of thieves is an MMO which makes PC a suitable platform for the game. More so than the console which aren't your 'go to' platform for MMOs.

Lol that tweet doesn't really mean anything. And like i already said, MS has nothing to lose by porting over years old games, which also happen to be built on a similar API.

Is this the first MS published game to be released on PC?
No, but it was rare for MS published games to show up on PC during the last generation. A couple of late Fable releases and Gears of War is all I can recall. Now we have Gears of War: Ultimate, Sea of Thieves, Fable Legends, D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, and Killer Instinct in less than 2 years since the XBO's launch. Forza 5 was shown running on a PC at a previous Build conference. It's bound to show up eventually. Only one of these games is a remaster.

As for Sea of Thieves being an MMO, that's really no excuse. If a first-party studio at SCE had made one, it would never have shown up on PC. As a matter of fact, the unreleased PS4 game WiLD is an MMO.

XBLA titles made their way on PC from time to time. I wouldn't call it rare, though its never clear what their criteria is (probably limited to games that don't sell well or are relatively low budget/indie games). State of Decay and Mark of The Ninja being the ones I can recall. So Killer Instinct and D4 on PC aren't really shocking revelations, or sign of things to change.

Now we have Gears of War: Ultimate
PC already has Gears 1 with the additional content that the X360 never received. So thats not even a new game.

Fable Legends
Fable I & III were released on PC. Not surprising, also considering that its F2P, which like MMO, has found great success on PC. So why not?

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, and Killer Instinct in less than 2 years since the XBO's launch
lol @ less than 2 years. Tremendous support, I must say. But then again, MS studios games have been released on PC in the past.

Forza 5 was shown running on a PC at a previous Build conference. It's bound to show up eventually.
So was Alan Wake, and Remedy had to self-publish it. MS had no intention to release it. Says alot about their stance.

As for Sea of Thieves being an MMO, that's really no excuse.
I think its a pretty good enough "excuse" to consider a PC release, keeping in mind the limited number of games and their success on consoles in general.

If a first-party studio at SCE had made one
We're not talking about SCE here.

I really don't understand the PC gamers' agenda with Microsoft to be honest. Do they want games from Microsoft or do they not want games from Microsoft? Some times it seems both.

Other times it seems they want the Xbox division to be liquidated, the product taken off the market, and all exclusives currently in development be just sent over to PC.

Heres an interesting read for you:

For people getting their hopes up. This is MS's various statements on their promise to PC gaming.

Sorry, but all MS is doing is blowing smoke up the ass of gullible people. So yea go ahead and get your hopes up and get excited. In a year or two when none of what they say comes to fruition...I'll pretend to act shocked.
Doesn't really instill confidence in them now does it?

That list is something I've seen a dozen times. But the question still stands. If MS is such a failure at keeping promises, how does that affect the general PC gamer at all? They still keep getting multiplatforms, exclusives, and a whole genre of video games not possible on consoles. This batch of gamers keep calling themselves the elitists, mostly because of a superiority complex. While the behaviour is vile, the facts are there. Games look and work better on PCs. And PCs aren't devoid of great games.

So, even after MS failing to deliver to this batch of elitists time and again, why do they get worked up so much when MS fails to impress them again? You know? Just shut up may be? Because it's not like they're being deprived of great games. I mean nothing changed for you guys right? You're still the same before Microsoft's promised you something, and then failed to deliver. The companies that made (and still make) games for you guys suddenly stopped existing or something?

What I find most appalling is Microsoft making promises and PC gamers immediately stomping on them and calling for ports of exclusives from the Xbox. And when they DO give them the exclusives, they're like "meh". I mean if these guys are going to be whiny then at least be consistent.

I don't think anyone gets worked up. Its pretty much MS making a mockery of themselves at this point due to their continued insistence on their "commitment" and releasing old games as quick cash grab attempts as proof. Sea of Thieves being an exception as its a new game.

Halo, Gears and Fable exist on PC in bits and pieces. If they're gonna release a franchise on PC, they should be consistent with it as well. Its probably a lack of securing exclusive content for the Xbox brand itself that they decide to discontinue franchises on PC. How is that justified?

Heck, even EA with Origin is doing a better job improving their reputation than MS has with PC gamers. Yes, Origin lol.
