Copied from reddit:

If anyone wants to sate their curiosity as to who was responsible for his death, In a way that doesn't spoil anything else ( or any upcoming scenes ) read below;

Spoiler: show
Well, you know that necklace that Ser Dontos gave to Sansa in the premiere? In the books, it was a hairnet, but in any case, the gemstones were poisonous, It was his job to make sure that she wore it at the wedding. Then, Olenna removed one of them from Sansa's necklace while comforting her and saying how unthinkable it is to kill a man at a wedding. The poison then ultimately ended up in Joffrey's chalice. It isn't explicitly stated in the books who put it there, but based on what i see as foreshadowing in some earlier scenes and the fact that she distracted everyoen with yelling about the pie before taking his chalice, I very heavily speculate that Margaery will be revealed to have put it into the chalice in the show. So, it was a group effor by Olenna, Dontos, and quite possibly Margaery, aswell as one other character, whose responsibility wasn't hinted at in ANY way this episode.

Spoiler: show

I don't think Margaery have anything to do with poisoning .... If you look closely you can see Olenna removing crystal from necklace while she is saying "war is war but killing a man at wedding" than you can also see her putting that crystal in chalice while she is walking towards her seat, you can even hear plunging sound.

but why did Olenna & Dontos needed sansa to wear necklace , why not carry the crystal from beginning

It's best not to post direct spoilers at least until a day after the episode has aired. Sometimes, people randomly stumble into this thread not knowing that a new episode is out.
well that should be done but just to be on safe side i never visit spoiler threads until i have watched the episode first :D
in breaking bad thread everything was being discussed very openly always

Best moment of the entire series.

He died like a Abuses will lead to ban that he had always been. Lekin bc marte marte bhi kachra karke gaya when he pointed at Tyrion.

Just second episode in and something so big has already happened. This season will be explosive.

So they will mix things from book 4 and 5 I guess end episodes might be them
Actually they've been doing that since Season 3. Only the first two seasons followed the first two books sequentially. Since Season 3, the show creators are following the Book series as a whole and not just Book 3. A good example of that is Theon's appearance since the last season. Theon was completely absent in "A Storm of Swords", which clearly indicates that they borrowed his story from Book 4 or Book 5. I haven't read past the third book so don't know for sure.

Just saw the episode and it was definitely one of the best episodes of the show. The way they executed the purple wedding was as close to the book as could have been.
And of course, loved the exchange of dialogues between all characters; Loras and Jaime, Jaime and Bronn, Olenna and Tywin and so on. I think Bran's story was also more interesting than usual this time around.
All hell is about to break loose on poor Tyrion now it seems. The late king made sure of that before he died.

I would really advise those who haven't read the books to avoid looking at this. Information about Joffrey's death will be revealed in the upcoming episodes anyways. The spoilers in the link go beyond the scope of the entire third book, not just the episode :p

My prediction is... Tyrion has done this. I dont think Sansa was a part of the plan, she clearly doesnt have the heart or guts to pull something like this off but I think she knew. Tyrells can do this but they have the most to lose with Joffreys death. Tywin lannister can also be the culprit but I think he had Joffrey under control and didnt really wanted to kill him off completely, Joff had not become that big of a pain in his ass yet. Im not even counting Cersei and Jaime. Its too early to judge if Oberyn Martell was a part of this.

Tyrion has had alot of bad encounters with Joffrey and I think Tyrion had been planning this ever since Joffrey sent his guys to kill Tyrion while he was defending the Kings landing for him. Not to mention he has always hated Joffrey.

Off topic, Whats the point of posting spoilers or links anyways?.. If anyone wants go spoil it or themselves, its not really hard to do so.

You speculations are really amusing :D

I don't see how Tyrion could have done it. If you rethink the whole scene, the camera was focused on Tyrion the whole time and we saw him every time he poured wine for Joffrey.
Tywin? You really think the man can kill his grandson?
Oberyn had nothing against Joffrey. His grudge is with Tywin and The Mountain and they are the reason he came to the capital.

The wedding is done and Margaery is now the queen. Joffrey's death cannot change that. She will remain queen.
