20k? a stock 4850 doesnt really overheat to levels of throttling and if u wanted cooling why not run its fan 100%, i mean 20k lol u cudve gotten another 4850 or hell sold this and got some high end loaded 4870 i mean dude the concept of bang for buck remember?

Yes i can run the fan at 100% but it makes hell of a noise and i dont want to concentrate on temps while i am playing wld u. Furthermore this zalman cooler might also be used later for any other gpu if u understand what i am saying . As far as Crossfire / Dual Gpu scenario i think it have alot of bugs and most of the games dont utilize this feature so there will be no from me for crossfiring for now might be next year when developers code dual gpu at optimum.

As far as 4870 is concerned ICEq version is not release yet in pakistan and stock has the same temp issue untill you tweak the hardware profile. and 3~5 fps more in 4870 than 4850 in my point of view does not make a deal.

Not to be discouraging or anything but I really can't understand the reason for spending this much amount on cooling solution. As Gameover already said, getting 4850 IceQ edition after selling the vanilla edition would have been better (cheaper).

Even more absurd is getting such an awesome CPU cooler for a processor like Athlon X2 4400+. I saw pictures first and thought this guy is spending so much on the cooling but he should get a good motherboard as well. Then I saw system specs and was like "What the hell. What good is this cooler going to do with a 4400+?"

Getting a good C2D (E7200, E8400) with a motherboard like Asus P5K-VM would have resulted in better performance even at stock levels with stock cooling. Athlon X2 4400+ even when over clocked to the max can't compete with that setup.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against getting aftermarket coolers. I'm myself using an Asus Silent Square Pro with my E8400 on a MSI P35 motherboard. But I bought E8400 when it was priced at Rs.16,000 while E8500 was for Rs.22,000. I bought Asus Silent Square Pro for Rs.3,100 and that was to push the processor beyond whatever was available at the time.

The cooler you have bought is for turning a good machine into an extreme machine while X2 4400+ is nothing more than mediocre at best.

No worry dude who says that i will be stuck with this 4400+ cpu forever if i got the opportunity to purchase some stuff than why not !

I also know the limitations about my system as it will not overclock madlly hell it will not even reach more than 2.8 ghz due to limited overclocking features on the bios.

P.s my xfx 8800gt is hitting 100c on load while playing crysis warhead.
ill try cleaning the dust and all the stuff to see any changes (havent cleaned since 11months)
P.S the fan speed was 90% set thru rivatuner.

i read ur profile why wud u need a northbridge cooler and a cpu cooler...amd's are good with northbridges because of the mem controller built onto the processor it really doesnt affect performance unless ur overclocking madly....wisely spend kartay paisay dude a new processor([email protected] catch my drift?),a new mobo,a new cpu cooler bus that was what u would need, with the money u cud get selling ur combo processor plus mobo you could have afforded the gpu cooler and northbridge cooler!
now put that side by side what you have and imagine the gains!
lol we are here to help u make wise decissions best use of money best bang for buck best performance to price ratio yaar what happened to that!

Why wud i need northbridge cooler?

This order was placed on july of this year back then i was utilizing the onboard

VGA which is ATI x1250 and it tends to make northbridge heatsink extremly hot on touching even you can burn your finger.

By considering that in mind i ordered northbridge cooler. AMD is good with

northbridge but is ASUS good with these AMD 690g mobos i guess not !

I already updated my main system this year in march Do comapre the prices which

were for the e2180/e2160 back then with amd solution.

Know again going to another platform without for the sake of overclock is not justifiable. or is it ?

P.S i am currently waiting for AMD Deneb so upgrading again to Intel then back to

deneb make no sense!

Way to go brother I am also waiting for Deneb. I suggest you upgrade the mobo too when you'll upgrade the Processor.MSI K9A2 Platinum is an excellent board and it has the best price/Performance ratio in the market (only negative thing in that board is that ancient SB600 South Bridge) . MSI DKA790GX Platinum is an excellent board but a bit costly.

i personally am looking forward to a CPU upgrade only, as my mobo supports 125W Processors too. I'll upgrade my mobo later InshaAllah.

MSI DKA790GX Platinum is looking promising but we currently dont want to change our mobo for deneb as our motherboards will support it as is. At the time of deneb arrival who knows how much better & future rich mobos will be available in the market!

Anyways personalyy i will go for Hybrid Crossfire solution rather than full fledged Crossfire mobo as most of the time the crossfire/sli does not kick in when you needed them the most by using hybrid crossfire we can lower the gpu usage to minimum

Hybrid crossfire doesn't support this. Only nVIDIA's Hybrid SLI and ATI's PowerXpress supports this but the later one is only for laptops.

Your current mobo only supports 95W processors. So you can only upgrade to limited processors in the future.

Thanks for heads up bro :wink2: we will c what upgrade we need at the arrival of deneb. As using AM3 board with deneb is recommended in order to utilize its performance.
