Can anyone please give a clear answer to the Fiber Link's service in Lahore because if have read almost all of the post regarding Fiber link and all i got were mixed reviews for eg. it takes too long to get installed or the speed is great etc.

Once installed and working, its the best ISP in the country.

You'll pull your hair out, swear and curse the customer support guy, contemplate on going back to PTCL, and perhaps even spend a lot on oil/rickshaws/chinchis/Uber taking trips to their office.

But at the end of the day, you'll always browse on the same internet and think of how you won't get anything close to this for the same price. FiberLink may not be perfect, but I've stuck by it for about a year now. And I wouldn't change it for anything. Not even if Google Fiber miraculously finds its way into Pakistan (okay, maybe in that case, we'll see)!

Believe me the swear and curse part is no different in PTCL service either that's why i was looking for a new ISP. Now i can atleast give Fiberlink a try. Thanks!

As someone who has been a user of PTCL DSL for over a decade, I can very confidently tell you that the cursing / swearing you have to do with PTCL is nothing compared to what you have to do with Fiberlink.

That said, I still won't give up my Fiberlink connection because the speed / price combo is unmatched and no one seems to be close to offering something similar.

I thought PTCL might up its game after AAE-1 went online but looks like they're still taking the slow approach.

5mb 2000rs
10mb 2500rs
50mb 4000rs
100mb 5000rs

My exchange doesn't even let me apply for a fiber based DSL line since they "only give copper connections to those who live within 500 meters of the exchange".

I doubt I can get anything above 10 Mbps even if they are offering them in my area.

Edit: also from what I've heard, it's not FTTH.

If it's vDSL then that's a load of horse shit, I had been after PTCL for years to get a vDSL connection at work, they always had unique excuses. The best one was, we only provide these services within X meters of the exchange

Anyone using fiberlink services in Gulshan Iqbal Block 13D? How long to get connection and its speeds or should I got for ptcl?

I doubt I can get anything above 10 Mbps even if they are offering them in my area.

It is FTTH provided you're in an area where it's available.

I've got 50 Mbps for 4k/month on the new packages on PTCL FTTH and it works great.

From what i've heard, PTCL isn't rolling out FTTH on a large scale, they're focusing on vDSL2. So while you're lucky to have gotten FTTH i suspect that will not be the case for the rest of us.

I thought it was the opposite. Here in Rawalpindi at least, FTTH has started popping up in some areas outside Bahria Town.

However, I suppose the rollout of VDSL2 is a sensible and more affordable option for them as a company since the equipment and cables cost a whole lot less than FTTH.

That is exclusive of taxes and line rent etc. Yes that is being offered by Ptcl in few areas.
