Just bought a Q-mobile for my mom.

Due to weak eyesight, I need to change the background colour, and text colour, and bubble colours, on the provided SMS app so that I can have white text on black background.

I have done a google search and found a lot of 'root the phone, get the apk, decompile, change, recompile' soutions, but isn't there a simple, straight forward solution to do this?

If not, do i need to install a different SMS app?

And do the luanchers do this as well? Allow you to change background and foreground colours on stock/builtin apps?

I think you can't do anything without having root access, just install 3rd party sms app from playstore which full fill your mom's need most sms apps provide different themes. You can change text colours, background etc.

If you want simple app with light and dark theme then you should try this, its very simple and light.

Can you suggest a similar phone/dialer and contact app? Simple, llightweight, and allows me to change background and font colours/themes.

Also, when I install that SMS app, what happens to the stock SMS app? Is that automatically disabled?

This app has two modes, if you wanna use it in standalone mode then disable stock sms app by going in settings--app--go to all tab--find your sms app and disable it then turn on standalone mode in 8sms

8sms has two modes: default and Stand-alone mode.In default mode, please do not disable or remove the messaging app that came with your device as that is still required to receive sms and mms messages. Instead, Turn off notifications for the messaging app that came with your device. Then you won't get two sets of notifications.
In Stand-alone mode, please disable or remove the messaging app that came with your device otherwise every new message will be stored twice.

Found that app too, but the problem was this: "This is a trial version with 7 days trial period. When the trial period expired, you will be asked to buy PRO version. You can still keep trying if you haven't decided to buy."

Not sure if it has ads, or nags, or so after the seven days are up. Anyone using this app that can clarify?

I've been using EXDIALER for the past year or so. Mine also had the 7 day thing so I installed the .apk file of the PRO KEY and the app worked fine and is still working fine now as well.

I have the .apk file so you can PM me your email so I can send it to you as long as you're okay with that. :)

What happened after the 7 days expired? You couldn't use it anymore?

After 7 days it keeps pestering you to buy the Pro Key.

No rooting required. Open settings, applications and then tick the 'Unknown Sources' box.
Then open the .apk file in a File Manager and install it.

Guys I'm facing a weird issue for the past few hours. I'm unable to access Google.com on my phone. My Whatsapp is also not working. Viber works fine, some other sites too.

The same internet is working fine on PC..

guys the charging plug for my phone does not work properly...when replaced with a htc one using the same usb cable, my phone is able to charge normally..

with the original one, it can only charge to about 10% in an hour.... I done know whats gone wrong, it is an original sony charger that came in with my xpria z ultra purchase.

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
