Guys, Alhumdulilah I've been selected for Software Engineering in COMSATS. Now the thing is my merit is applicable for Electrical Computer Engineering as well. I'm now very confused into which field I should choose. My personal interest is Software but I am willing to sacrifice if the scope of ECE is much higher. I need fast suggestions as to which line should I choose since last date of fee submission is 12- August. Also does anyone has any idea what does ECE offer, I've yet to find any article or page explaining this specific field. Thanks.

My advice would be to go for Electrical Engineering. An Electrical Engineer can switch careers to a Software Engineer but a Software Engineer can not switch to a Electrical Engineering job.
If you are passionate about Software you can learn all the stuff you will learn at university (and more) at Home with only a PC and an internet connection.
Although there is no doubt that employment rate of software engineers is greater than that of Electrical Engineers. But I you are good at programming you can easily take a software job from under your software engineer peers.

I am guessing this ECE is just like Electrical Engineering with few SE subjects in it like Programming(java/cpp),micro-programming,DLD,etc. SE is merely a degree while EE is real engineering. And yes you could learn alot of stuff of SE at home, you ll only be needing a PC. But if you have interest in computer field then choose SE unless you're a bright student.

P.S. I agree with most of fact @haxan7 enlightened.

I'm doing comp engg from comsats lahore (in the infamous dual degree program). I was also offered BSE, but I chose BCE. To my knowledge, BCE doesn't have much scope in Pakistan. It's the same as Elec engg with few differences after 4th semester. You can 'maybe' have jobs of EE, but pure CE jobs are almost nonexistent in Pak.

Thank you guys for all your replies. I've decided to go with ECE since the Software Engineering program Comsats ISB offers is not an engineering program. It's degree is not accredited by PEC hence making it of no value here in Pakistan. On the other hand, ECE is purely an engineering program whose degree is accredited by PEC and HEC.
