its a bit off topic but according to Islam God was there forever but my question is was there a beginning? There is always a begininning?

Rest, all of the decisions in life are person's free will. God may guide you towards good decisions and then there is luck.
You may also be manipulated by devil. But even with these factors included you always have a choice and your decisions have bearing on the outcome.
As to God knows everything, Yes He does. But that does not imply he knows because he has decided everything for you. He know because He knows there is nothing more to it.

Also you ask about the beginning of God, Qur'an answered this question.
Allah Does not have a beginning or the end. He has always existed and will always exist.
Don't relate time with Allah, He created time , you can't compare them.

a common misconception which leads many to believe in 'fate'/'qismat'..
but i don't think it is so..
i believe in ALLAH, the master/cherisher/sustainer of the world(s)
ALLAH has given us choices to be chosen by us.. what ever we shall sow is that we shall reap in hereafter,
their is no predetermination accept for the things ALLAH has promised in quran and things like death..
99% are up to us.. the prove of this is that ALLAH does 'justice', only the sins of the sinner shall be accounted for, the sins the sinner "did" because he also had a choice not to do it
it's so logical.. basically this is the meaning of our test over here, if every thing in our test was predetermined then their would not be any need for the test and for what purpose would their be heaven or hell.
ALLAH watches over his creation, he is the ultimate savior and he is the watchful protector.. that's what i believe but only ALLAH knows best.
