^lol you just disrepected " MONK" class.

guyz this discussion would lead everybody to nearly no where, i somehow agree to Roark that you should pick a class that you enjoy playing with.

Your advice for noobs to start with a ranged class is redundant, all classes have their own learning curves and play styles to master. On harder difficulties, ranged classes can get swarmed and die again and again. Don't even get me started on the immunity type monsters. Nothing i hated more than a magic immune mob when playing a sorcerer in the earlier games.
This is not D2. You wont be stuck with stats you invest in. There are no magic immune mobs. Ranged classes only have trouble with a few abilities and even then they can still do dps while avoiding them, while melee is constantly getting one shotted because they need to be in range of a clusterfuck of aoe dmg and melee dmg from mobs to do any dmg of their own.

In group play, ranged classes do not get swarmed. Its the melee classes that get bummed first. I still maintain, if someone is picking this game up for the first time, they should go for the ranged classes.

It still depends on the trade off between a one hit kill to be able to tank a bit.

I just saw the video sephii shared with all of us. The guy who posted the video has another one on base attributes. Its quite interesting

For barbarians it seems like the best stats are resistance>armour>vitality>dodge

Also(this is true for all classes)

Strength gives armour(1 str gives 1 armour)
Int gives resis (10 int gives 1% resis to all and 1% reduced physical damage). Inshort, int or resis is better later on.
Dex gives dodge
Vit gives hp(1 vit gives 10hp)

So that means that you shouldnt feel odd to pick int stat as it does gives you resis to all. Once you are aware of these you can pick the right gear for your barbarian.

bhiya that also shows in your char screen tooltip when you hover ur mouse over stats.

besides many choose different kind of gameplay I understand we do need resistance later in the game specially being a mele class couz I have seen hell of a time playing Normal ACT III with those running mobs exploading with poison effect and Darth's with 1 big hand creating poison pool on the ground where u stand, but thats the beauty of the game you choose what build you want there is no way we can prioratise the stats as we do in WoW.

I have seen number of builds for barbarian and they are all different from each others some choose massive dps skills and stats some choose defensive stats some with dodge stacking i mean i am loving this game the way they develope it with endless possibilities to manuver what fits you the best.

There is a lot of complains against Melee Classes on Inferno stating its much harder for these Classes than for Ranged ones
Ive been checking The Officials Forums and this is the general consensus

Apparently Melee have to invest a lot of stats in Armor / Resistance / Vitality along with taking upto 3 Defensive abilities which basically gimps DPS

Yea basically get pigeon holed into specific passive skills, and gear. Cant say anything about inferno, but even hell was tough before i got better gear handed down from friends. i have gemmed my gear mostly with vitality gems where applicable. other than that got some resistant gear as well. My HP isnt super high since and I have to kite a few elite mobs ( arcane, dmg immune etc ) using seismic slam lol.

most of the posts here about balance is meaningless now.

wizard/dh got nerf pretty hardcore , their survival is pretty shit compared to the melees , WD is still good but so far monk is the best class in game.

inferno is very hard after the nerf i am stuck at the end of act 1 , farming gold (one way or another) and trying to get better weapons is all you can do after 60.

prices on ah are starting to fall , soon ill be able to get a 1k dps+ weapon
