Dexter v/s Breaking Bad

I know that this fight can't be fought cause they are both different genres, technically speaking. But I was having this conversation with my friend the other day. I was for Breaking Bad and he was for Dexter. What do you guys think?

Help us settle this fued.

dexter is an okay show... not that good actually.... it has only a couple of good seasons... the first and fourth... the rest are a time waste... and no current show matches the quality of breaking bad...

Dexter is a Great show...my vote goes for The Dark Defender..

Dexter has been on air for a longer period of time.
So we cannot compare the quality of the seasons as they are now.

Both are equally awesome imo

BUT! I must admit this is probably one of my favourite scenes

^ I haven't seen the show so not judging, but it was kinda lame. When you see such a guy draw his gun and point it at you, you don't wait. You shoot, trying to get him before he gets you.

well quality wise breaking bad is better... no doubt... everything is better.... it is also exciting so no boring comments should be heard... dexter can get really good but it can get really bad aswell.... sickening bad sometimes... dexter matches breaking bad only at its peak.... the writing ... the acting.. the directing.. everything is better in breaking bad... but ofcourse the bling bling story of a serial killer is gonna get more votes like twilight gets all the votes at the mtv movie awards... simple as that...

same here man im also a huge fan of DEXTER and to be very open nothing touches DEXTER at any cost bcuz its story line is much much btr as well as different frm breaking bad.

you proved my point... now download the wire and say that you weren't impressed.... breaking bad started with a bang... and is not even slow... don't know what takes to impress you?? better acting and dialogue doesn't impress you?? dexter is like lost.... a different idea which gets old pretty fast.... i am a fan of dexter.... but if you understand QUALITY then dexter is not that great and mega overrated... on the other hand breaking bad is heavy QUALITY and consistent.... i understand if you do not know the quality i talk about....

There's a level of...lets see, how do I put it...maturity of thought...required to comprehend why Breaking Bad is a better show. The pseudo-intellectual crap from shows like dexter may well make it enjoyable enough and give you an overly sense of having seen psychological depth but few people see the real thing. Not to say that Breaking Bad is ground breaking in that sense, however it is some ways above Dexter. But I digress, taste is relative, and better is too general a term.

Where as every 1 here has a different choice and a different sense of humor, like i said in the TV show thread that i didnt like Game of Thrones, so its pointless to force or show off that what u like should be like by every 1. Breaking Bad is far superior to Dexter.. The OP stated that they are different genres, but I think they are similar in the fact that they both are in-depth character studies.. And breaking bad does a much better job than dexter at that.. One reason due to which I think people find Breaking Bad 'boring' is probably its heavy use of symbolism, most people think that they are focusing on an object pointlessly for several seconds while actually it has a meaning to the plot.. Its not without reason that braking bad is called the best show on TV right now and nothing else atm comes remotely close to it..

i don't respect choices all the time... because when there is a clear difference facts overtake choices... dexter is unintellectual... no character development whatsoever.... no indepth analysis of actual human nature like you see in the wire or oz or deadwood and ofcourse breaking bad.... dexter is a fairytale.... complete bs.... just try and listen to dexter thinking and narrating after every scene....utter nonsensical fudge... i like to watch dexter but i realize that it is just entertainment...not quality.... and it is very boring also....same thing over and over again.... i respect the show even less after watching criminal minds which shows indepth analysis of a psycho mind.... yes i know what most people answer is gonna be.... but you should also know that majority does not show intelligence... majority even votes for zardari.... oh whatever.... if someone cannot comprehend why dexter is an inferior show then the hell do i care.... i just said what i wanted to... shouldn't care what others think...
