Hello, I am a student, currently doing an online semester, but I would be going to uni next next sem, which would be in the summers if uni opens then. My uni is in turkey and i am from pakistan, what i am currently confused about is what would be a "better" option for me, as i would be coming back to Pakistan every now and then and ive been thinking of either making my current system and upgrading it a bit into some kind of portable desktop or to buy a gaming laptop. The prices of laptops here are high and generally getting any of the next gen stuff is hard, i think across the world, and i have a limited budget which is around 1.5 lakh at max if i get lucky. Also I would be traveling in turkish airlines, i think that info might be useful.
My current system
CPU: AMD ryzen 7 2700
Motherboard: ASUS Prime a320m-e
RAM: 16gm ram corsair lpx
PSU: Corsair vs550GPU: 1050ti
SSD: some random hp 128 sata ssd
HDD: one 4TB hdd, one 1TB hdd, one 500GB hdd
Case: Corsair carbine spec 0-4
Use case
My use case is digital art, 3rd art, game development and just playing games for 1440p res.
The pros and cons as i see it
Cons with laptops
- the main issues i see is the price point, getting anything that can game at 1440p seems like it would be way out of my budget
- upgradability is pretty limited with laptops, sure XMG and others provide a lot more of it but they are also high in cost and very difficult to get in Pakistan as per my knowledge
- Also I have heard after a certain cost of your luggage airlines/airports might ask you to pay like up to 16% in the worth of the product as tax;which as someone that isnt very rich sounds pretty scary and painful if i would have to pay it in Pakistan and in turkey every time i move around? Ofc this is a problem with desktops aswell, but laptops tend to quite a bit more expensive so this is just scary, anyways If anyone has any knowledge on this matter, any help would be greatly appreciated.
- generally from what ive seen next gen laptops dont look that impressive in terms of price to performance so that does make it a turn off
- Laptops are priced extremely high over here for laptops due to taxes and import fees
Pros with laptops
- portability, its smaller and takes up less space so i can carry more stuff with me and generally makes the whole process alot more easier which is a big pro
- easy of use, i generally find using a laptop more comfortable and easy to deal with when lets say id be in a dorm, i can just move it around or go out of my dorm and use it if my roommates might want some alone time in the room and i gotta get work done.
Cons with desktop
- The cost of moving it through countries, cuz of how heavy a desktop is compared to a laptop it can be costly and not to mention the space it takes, i could put something else in there
- having it move it if i have to work but cant be in my dorm might be problematic
- lacks the easy of use of a laptop, i wouldn't be able to just lay down in my bed and just use it, which i would like to do that.
-my dorms are not that big so the space a desktop might take could be a problem
- mini ITX cases and low profile fans, are costly and extremely hard to find in Pakistan as per my knowledge
Pros with desktop
- upgradability
- lower costs
- better price to performance
- actually fits into my budget with the type of requirements i have for it
Some of the solutions I have come up with if i go the desktop route:
-Build my own mini itx case
- Build my PC in a suit case
- Have a desktop that has wires coming out of linked to a laptop type case with a display and keyboard and a usb hub attached to it
So what is that is confusing me?
Well if all the work i put in for the desktop solutions really worth it? should i just pay extra and get a laptop anyways? and how realistic my solutions are?
These are mainly the questions that are bothering me rn, I still have time, since I either go in the summer semester for the one after it, hence i decided to post on here and see if i can get any feedback on this matter.
Thank you all for reading and like helping me out, it means a lot <3

I have heard that maybe using a shipping service would be a good option? so if anyone has any info about a shipping service that would do a good job in my particle use case how would that be? also ya i know this one has alot of problems with it aswell
