in my opinion the golden rule for any forum, website etc should be that the SELLER of a product should be under much strict penalties which will ultimately result in sellers being careful....there should be more and more mechanisms for the accountability and punishment of a seller rather than just accepting the buyer being a victim of online fraud

I just learned today that a friend of my colleague got scammed on daraz. He ordered Samsung S9 plus. He got empty but sealed box delivered to him. He launched a complain but daraz said that they had made the delivery correctly as per record and that he is lying to scam daraz.
He was refused return/refund and lost almost 1lac rupees as a result.
Now whatever the truth of the story, the moral here is that always choose cash on delivery for expensive items, if damaged or if item packaging looks shady, do not accept package. Also, always make a video of you unboxing package so as to keep proof that you are telling the truth.

He should launch a complaint in Consumer Court.

I'd like to add my own comments regarding Daraz.

So my brother ordered this Dawlance Juicer from Daraz. It shipped from Lahore to Karachi & we received it with broken glass jug. Then he complained & they took it back and sent replacement one & it was intact but wasn't working... then he complained again & they once again took it back & just today sent the replacement one... and guess what? This one came broken too. He has launched new complaint & god knows how it's going to go this time.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend Daraz for fragile stuff at all! Buy phones & such from them, but don't buy appliances. They have no quality control whatsoever!

I keep hearing a lot of negative feedback about Daraz. Sure, that's a problem which should be addressed, but overall my experience with them has been unusually good. I always pay beforehand and I've got things like PS4, Smart LED TV, PS4 games, Portable HDD, earphones, etc. No issues ever.

I have an update. I had ordered a refurbished notebook over a month ago and they sent me one with half the hardware of what I originally ordered. I returned the product and they informed me that the product's LCD is broken. Of course, the product was okay when I returned it (which is how I checked the hardware and found that it's not what I ordered). They are refusing to acknowledge their mistake - be it the LCD or the hardware - and refusing to refund me. It's been over a month but the only response I get from them is that their quality check department reviewed my complaint and found no issue at their end (as if they'll ever accept it). When asked to share the details and evidence that I have broken the LCD, they didn't share anything. On the contrary, I shared with them the pics of the notebook in working condition with perfect LCD but still no response or hope of a refund. I lost around Rs. 16.5k.

You should register a complain with FIA cybercrime division.
Fraudsters of any kind should not be left unpunished. Even if nothing happens, eventually cases will start piling up against such fraudsters and will be exposed sooner or later.

I'm planning to do that and then take a legal action as well if required. We should report such events so they recognise this as a risk factor and don't operate with complete impunity.

The fact that they use a third party courier (And definitely with insurance) for these types of things. They need to suck up and take responsibilities for the mistakes that happen in between them and the customers.

But alas, nobody from daraz will ever acknowledge their mistake.
I've always made a video while packing up and handing the package to the courier for refund just in case they decide to cuck me over.

never sure any sympathy to these businesses. EVER.

You should definitely tell that you're going for a legal action if they keep pinning the blame on you.
