I am making this thread for those people who may want to update their firmware from PTCL stock to D-Link official firmware.

If you have a D-Link DSL 2750U Router (Also make sure you know the H/W ver.) and you want to change the firmware to D-Link official firmware. Go to Emergency Flashing HOW-TO for details for all the types of D-Link routers.

For DSL routers I am posting the details here:

You'll need to set up a Static IP address on the wired connected PC, set to 192.168.1.49.
Store a copy of the Modem firmware (.IMG) on the HDD of a local PC
- Switch Modem OFF.
- Press the reset button, i.e. insert ballpoint pen in reset hole under the Modem.
- Keep holding the reset button and turn ON the Modem.
- Keep holding the reset button for about 12 seconds after you power ON the Modem.
- Now you'll see that the power led has turned RED signifying that the Modem is in crash recovery mode.
- When you enter the address 192.168.1.1 on your PC browser, you find the upgrade firmware page.
- Just browse to the downloaded firmware file and flash!

I did the update that way and my router is working fine. Opening the router page in recovery mode is a bit tricky. Disable all the firewalls and anti-virus programs before continuing with this.
You'll have a about 30 second window to open the firmware page after you connect the LAN to the pc. If the page is not opening pull the LAN cable out of the pc port and connect it again and open the Firmware page again. Use of Internet Explorer is recommended.

LAN settings are:

IP address: 192.168.1.49
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: ---------(nothing in default gateway)

DNS 1: 192.168.1.1

Only these settings will work. Obtain the firmware before going to crash recovery mode. The router will reboot after the firmware is flashed successfully and it will take 2 minutes. There will be no indication if the router is doing anything so please wait and don't turn off the router. Once the router reboots, change the settings to auto IP and configure your router your way.

DONT UPLOAD THE SAVED SETTINGS, CONFIGURE IT FROM SCRATCH.

My router is D-Link DSL-2750U (H/W ver. J1)
Thanks for reading.

Why go through all the hassle, when you can just log in to the 192.168.1.1 PTCL web portal and flash the firmware file from there?

That's how I did it on my 2750U.

whats the advantage of changing firmware????
The stock PTCL firmware is very buggy and half the features on it, don't actually work.

The D-Link firmware gives you more control over some of the features.

There is no need to login while in crash recovery mode. Just open the router page and it will ask for the firmware. There is no login required.

I downloaded the software from this page but there was a problem that the router version was 2750u and after updating the version turned to 2790u and ptcl and i want to enter the main settings of the router but i can not because it changed the IPE from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.10.1 and the user name and password also changed I can not do Formate for Router and I can not access it.
So if you would appreciate me if you know how to access the settings, I would be thankful to you
Because the device is new and I never used it and it was bought two weeks ago
