What are the best softwares for ram OC? and is there any benefit to faster rams?
i dont aware any software could do RAM overclocking. or you means benchmark software for RAM ?

Faster RAM or overclocking of RAM only beneficial in benchmarking. like in MaXXmem software to analyze how faster your ram is as compare to rivals and also latency info. lower the latency higher performance will be. In 3DMARK 11 physics benchmark, Memory OC impact greatly with along with CPU.

Gaming performance will not be affected by RAM overclocking. marginal difference.

would a 2600k be good enough to play the latest n greatest games on a z77 board

coz even a 4790k could not do a 5ghz stable benchmark let alone come to 4.9ghz .
i think it should be enough but when its comes to 4k and multiple displays it will bottleneck the gpu but that will be only if you have like 3xsli . which is a rare . so in my opinion it should be enough .

how bottleneck. i guess 5820K is another thing in i7 world. but normal i7 2nd will perform as good as 4th gen i7

nafu bro if you look at the stats of the rigs that people have with 3x sli at 4k the cpu does become a limiting factor due to the amount of data being processed is simply too much for the cpu to handle and the fps becomes limited not due to the gpu scaling but due to the cpu bottleneck .

i might be wrong but just my 2 cents

depends on many factors----yes at extreme res u really need a very fast and beast of a cpu for 4k --add multi display 4k and well even the latet n greatest will chowk on it ---just to much for them to handly ...maybe pascal can change all this
