Thanks for the excellent response Hussey it was really helpful rather then simple yes/no
. I read that thread when someone referred me on shoutbox however the thread was pretty long. I am tending more towards the PS3 after reading your response
1) My LCD monitor says on box it is DVI with HDCP also link here suggests the same but I have the black model
933BW - TECH SPECS | SAMSUNG
2) How much would the audio converter cost?
3) My LCD is not 1080p so how would the games run? Would they look blurry?
4) Someone told me "XBox achanak se oor jata hey" Is it true news ? Also is that same case with new PS3 console?
5) If I get modded PS3 will it be turned back to un modded easily?
Thank you.
Thanks so much for the compliments. I shall be really glad if I can help you make the right purchase for you.
Anyways, here I go again.
1) Your LCD does say it's HDCP compliant but I was kinda surprised to check a few forums where people got this same model checked by Samsung's authorized technicians and found out that these displays are not exactly HDCP compliant and for almost each person I have checked with on the internet, this display has NOT worked for ANYONE, instead it gives a blank screen when connected to the PS3. So, I'd suggest you keep it for use with your PC only (in actuality it IS a very good monitor, just that it won't connect to your PS3).
2) It's not exactly an audio converter that I was referring to, but it's a DVI to HDMI wire or HDMI to DVI wire (same thing) whatever way you might want to put it. Basically the DVI end connects to the DVI port behind the monitor and the HDMI
end connects to the HDMI port on the PlayStation 3 which then emits the signal in HD to your display.I don't think it costs more than Rs. 1000 but you wil have to check with some premium sellers who sell it on Pakgamers or even your local computer shops (good ones so that you get a good quality product).
3) If your LCD is NOT 1080p, I am afraid the results would be a little blurry but they are not exactly game breaking for too disheartening but trust me I have seen results both in HD and non-HD and I can tell you there's a world of difference when you compare the two. Go HD, I'd say. For that you can sell your monitor and add some amount to get a decent Full HD display or you could just keep this and if you have the finances and you have no issues buying a new diaplay for the PS3, by all means get a good 1080p display (careful though, there are some really crappy ones out there which look really good from the outside, on design etc., but they have horrible viewing angles). Tell me if you need advice on that too.
4) Well, there are rumours that fly around just like that but bear one thing in mind, the new Slim units for both, PS3 and XBox 360 are very energy efficient and they wont just blow up like that unless you mess them up, intentionally or with extra bit of stupidity.
Secondly, PS3 SLIM consoles have absolutely no such issues and I would again highly recommend you to go for the SLIM model of PlaySTation 3 (NOT FAT mind you).
Reasons: Ps3 Slim is not just an excellent gaming console but it is a fantastic BluRay player that plays all sort sof BluRay movies. It is highly power efficient and would turn itself off when it gets too hot after way too long hours of play, it will NOT blow up or get damaged at all. I will highly recommend this sytem if you are to enjoy FREE online player multiplayer as well. I hope that sounds enough convincing.
5) Once you jailbreak (mod) the PlayStation 3, it will NOT be able to go online on PlayStation Network and you will be stuck with offline solo play. If you ask me, I shall NEVER advise that. Buy it legit, and let it remain original. There are ways to play games for cheap and I can help you with that too. Just take my advice and do NOT get it modded if you get the PlayStation 3.
Phew! I hope that would suffice.
Took a long time coming, sorry.
Feel free to ask again, if you wish. Here to help.
PS: One decent LCD which is not only the cheapest option available to you but also good in a way, although NOT 1080p is
HP S2032a that a PG member Tultras suggested to LordIT in one of his posts on that thread I suggested you to read. This is that LCD: HP Home Desktops and Monitors for the Home & Home Office – HP S2032a LCD Monitor It's available on galaxy.com.pk for Rs. 10,300.
Btw, I still urege you to read through the complete thread I suggested, it really honestly does closely relate to your case, will only help you make a decision you know.
