Salam all. I needed some help and guidance.
I have applied to FAST Lahore for Bachelors in Sciences and i will be applying to Malaysia as well, iA It's a four year course here and 3 years in Malaysia. The thing is that, this field very much interests me. Initially, the plan was that I would go to flying school(to become a commercial pilot), that has always been my number one dream. After talking to many people, they suggested I should have a back up in case, God forbid, the pilot dream doesn't transpire. Problem is that my father keeps telling me that there's nothing in the IT department as he, himself did some business management degree. So I thought, what if there is some career with IT and computer business connected.
So, I wanted to know:

1) What are the possible paths and careers after this degree?
2) Is this the degree for me? Because in Malaysia, they offer many, different IT degrees, which are more precise?
3) Is there anyway I should prepare?
4) Where's the scope these days?

Someone's personal experience would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

1. Possible paths are many, there are many fields in IT itself, for which you would have to get certifications after completing BS.
Such as:
You can go for Database:
Oracle
SAP ERP
You can Go for Networking:
Cisco

2. Well if you can fly there for your bachelors so its the best thing for you, otherwise if you are willing to complete this within Pakistan, i must say FAST is a very good and reputed university for Computer Science education in Pakistan

3. Yes Prepare for the SAT the test will be based on simple SAT. you can take a book of SAT or NTS GAT by Dogers to study it is for those students willing to pass GAT for admission in MS/Mphill and it is written in a manner you can easily understand.

4. Well Scope depends on what field you would select within IT. for example Database have a great scope, Oracle and SAP ERP professionals are very successful. you would have some idea about everything in your 4 years program, from which you can easily select the one in which you are interested and also have scope.

1. Business people (BBA, MBA etc) will never appreciate I.T and it's role in a department, so just gulp it. They don't realize that everything involving their daily routine has something to do with I.T and even if they realize they are too arrogant to accept it.
2. Now days I.T is the backbone of any modern business so be proud of what you are doing.

Being in I.T is not an easy job, you can only survive if you have passion for it, if you are in it for fame than forget about it, only 1 in a million gets fame in this industry.

Once you start your studies you will discover yourself the area you have interest in

1. Networking
2. Multimedia
3. Database
4. Programming
5. Hardware

Around all the fields in I.T revolve around the above categories, find the one which interests you most and stick to it.

sperate. its a cisco certification. After graduation if you want to work in networks you would be spending time on a hardware of a specific company. Most of the networking hardware is from cisco and hence a cisco certification path which guarantees that you are above the rest in networks job :)
