Buy i7 3rd gen or wait for 4th gen

Hi guys,

I am planning to get a new desktop, primarily for would be hackintosh, secondary for gaming... just need opinion should i go and buy 3rd generation processors or should i wait for the 4th generation i think they would be in market in next couple of months or so?

A Taste Of Things To Come

4th gen is only 7-13% faster but it requires new mobo which will support 5th gen also so i think it will be better to wait for 4th gen. It will release in june.

I would recommend that you wait for 4th gen ....i my self will (InshaAllah) upgrade from 2nd gen to 4th gen, a big jump mainly because so i can experience the increase in performance, compared to jump form 3rd gen to 4th gen which may not be much of a difference in my opinion.

BTW 3rd Gen is almost same as 2nd Gen so buying 3rd Gen at this time is foolishness.

Bro I searched a lot on internet about hackintosh, sandy bridge has great support for hackintosh (lion & mountain lion) then ivy bridge (only mountain lion), so ultimately hasewell will have either no or much lower support for hackintosh till apple releases new version of OSX 10.9 with native support for intel new chips

So if hackintosh is ur priority then go for 3rd gen at least.

i would say you should wait if you dont have budget constraints ( you know how pakistani market is...they charge heck lot of EXTRA bucks for anything thats new)....plus if you wait you will be future proof for many years to come.

thanks dear, i think apple will announce new generation laptops in coming june/july with osx 10.9 and since processing difference between 3rd gen and 4th gen is not that much, but yes built-in GPU is a huge plus, but again if i would be getting an external GPU so that difference from 3rd gen to 4th gen wont be much for me... besides i like the comment of someone that wait for 4th gen and then get 2nd gen i think i had to consider that option as well lol
