Yes you just read the title of this message right. Our insider just gave us the first official “unconfirmed” specifications of the next generation Galaxy S, the Galaxy S IV. The Galaxy S IV will no longer use the Samsung EXYNOS processor and according to the latest rumours this processor has overheating issues. Today we can confirm Samsung will use the Snapdragon 600 and it is clocked at 1.9 Ghz which is 0.2 Ghz higher than the HTC One. The Galaxy S IV will have 2 GB of RAM and will come in three variants 16, 32 or 64 GB. As the rumours earlier reported Samsung is going to use a Full HD display. The Galaxy S IV uses a 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display we have no information if this is based on LCD3 like the HTC One. But a couple of months ago we posted the first hint regarding Samsung’s LCD factory is ready to produce Full HD panels from early 2013. And we also know Samsung’s AMOLED factory does have many problems with the production of full HD AMOLED screens.
We also know more about the build and dimensions of the device. According to our insider the dimensions of the device are 140,1 x 71,8 x 7.7mm and the weight is 138 gram, the new Galaxy S IV will use a home button and will have touch buttons. If you look at the photo below you will see that it will be square formed again, so they dropped the Galaxy SIII design line. He also said the sides are made from aluminium but the back is still plastic which automatic hints to a removable battery which is good to know.
Yesterday we already found out that the Galaxy S IV will have a 13 megapixel camera. Some leaked photos created by the Galaxy S IV showed up to confirm that.
If our insider is right again this is a bad sign for all the EXYNOS and AMOLED freaks out there. Below a list of the confirmed specifications through us right under the specification list you will see the boot screen photo.
- 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display
- Snapdragon 600 1.9 Ghz
- 2 GB RAM
- 16, 32 or 64 GB
- 13 Megapixel
- 140,1 x 71,8 x 7.7mm
- 138 gram
- Home button with touch buttons
- Plastic back with aluminium sides
- Removable battery
- Black / White

If these specs are right, is it worth switching from GSIII to GSIV?

IMO, this news seems fake. No way they're gonna ditch the Exynos processor and Amoled screen.

AMOLED to LCD is an upgrade, not downgrade.
YEAH RIGHT... amoled is better in every way(even the over exaggerated candy colors)... If you simply do not prefer one type of display to your own misguided fanboy preferences, then don't spread misinformation... there is a thing called preference as technically it is far superior... the only downgrade is the burn-in... better in every possible way... it is still a rumour and if samsung ditches it then it would only be due to costs or failure to make 1080p screens in that size... the ONLY reason me and anyone else buys samsung is for the amoled... that is their biggest selling point, without it, no one will buy it... i know your problem with amoled... if you look at note2's amoled, then it would satisfy you.. the whites are the best they have ever been....it has multiple settings, where you can use the over saturated colors or the vomit inducing bland iphone-like colors which you term as natural or anal...

yeah but samsung should get something from those HTC phones, i love their BUILD :)
i can live with plastic... but i cannot live with bad battery timings and no expandable storage... build quality is not the only reason to buy a phone

@HAMMER of THOR: yeah not everybody buys it for the BUILD but than again there are those fanatics that pay extra or tend to go the better shape smartphone etc ( not me ofcourse i go for power or resources )

also if u see there is a trend now that samsung is making most of their phones in oval kinda shape after s3, note 2, grand duos etc u know similiar shapes and build. that's what im talking about, change it already.

AsadAbrar: spending 60k above and getting PLASTIC ! that is whats UP :p

Fake over saturated colors, weird color gradients, burn in, battery killer under bright colors and pentile matrix. You need to be a fanboy to prefer all that. You just need to be sane to prefer otherwise.

Oh I totally forgot the strong blue tinge all over the color spectrum.
Yes I used a Note II.

fake over saturated colors....... i like them... but that is samsung doing it... not amoled's fault... they improved that with note2... get out of ips's ass and check it out... i accept about burn in... battery killer is also not valid, it is samsung's fault... pentile matrix is samsung's fault... now you really are without a brain... unbelievable response times and contrast ratio's alone anal rape.... don't try to one up me with all that half ass truth shit.... don't call your preference as the word of GOD...

there are only a few materials used in the building of these machines... metal(mostly aluminium), glass, plastic and polycarbs which are also just stronger form of plastic...

Grow the f*** up and calm the f*** down. It's hard to give you a reply when your head is so far up your ass but I'll give it a try OK?

When I said 'AMOLED' I was talking about the AMOLED that Samsung uses; which as you mentioned comes with a ton of faults. And no where did I say it's a 'fact' that IPS is better. I, ME, prefer IPS over AMOLED. Kapish?

I'm not saying plastic su**s or anything but atleast high end phones should get a better build than being all plasticy and stuff.. that matte surface with bits of aluminium sound real good !

Ok guys CALM DOWN, no need to thrash each other on personal choices. each have their own, so mutual respect ppl.
