Now that ATI has established a 40nm manufacturing process with its Radeon HD 4770, it was only a matter of time before the rumour mill began to churn out details of other upcoming 40nm parts.

Today, the attention's turning to potential RV870-based parts. According to German site hardware-infos.com, ATI's RV770 successor will arrive as soon as July '09 in the form of the Radeon HD 5870 and the dual-GPU Radeon HD 5870 X2.

It is, of course, entirely speculation at this moment in time. However, should the report be believed, the products will line up with the following specifications

GPU Clock = 950 Mhz
Memory Clock = 4600Mhz

Shit
look at the specs of it. If this so called RUMOR is true, then it will be the hit card. This single GPU card is easily kicking the GTX295 Dual GPU based card. o_O & also DX11 supported o_O
total overkill (IF IT IS TRUE)

wait a minute
Nvidia havent launched his DX11 series........
If this ATI's card have THIS specs, WHAT WILL BE THE SPECS OF NEXT NVIDIA CARD o_O ?????

Theres a good possibility those specs are true...ATI has been hitting high clocks for a long time now....but clocks alone don't give you high performance (some 8600GTS can hit 1gh core clock but the performance isnt that great) so heres to hoping for a decent set of drivers.

Im kind of disappointed that the 5870 *MIGHT* have 256-bit interface, but then again they are using GDDR5, which hasn't shown huge gains over GDDR3 and doesn't overclock as good, but maybe it'll fit their architecture well (seeing the 4770 do good on 128-bit). Interesting stuff coming ahead.

ATI is shaping up well for their next release. Can't wait.

PS: gesherburn, when you post news, try to put into quote what you are copy pasting to avoid confusion. And thanks for the share :)
