[SOLVED] Asus GTX 660ti vs Club 3D 7870 xt

I didn't say it has drivers issue, I said 660ti has relatively better drivers support thats all.
As I stated above, this card performs very well for its price, but its really not better than 660ti.
660ti is more of a 7950 category than this.
I also keep my card clean, but I don't bother with changing thermal paste every month. It violates my cards warranty + its a big hassle.
Why should I be forced to change thermal paste that often to keep my card from heating up?
I have a good PSU, and this card overclocks really well, (Core clock 1150MHz is easy).
Also I do agree that no GPU is future proof , but why should one buy a bad gpu if he can afford a good one.

Second you saying the card is better than 7950 ..bro its upon game if the game is build for nvidia card specially so the nvidia performs well in that game like metro last light and for amd like far cry and crysis3 etc so and performs well in that game bro we have to see game future and amd future is bright in gaming industry becoz lot of game are for amd cards... I'm not saying to buy 7870xt but should go for r9 280x or 290 these cards are bang of buck dear the all I am saying go for amd any card

No What I meant was 660ti is usually compared with 7950, with 7950 being usually better.
7870xt is below both , performance wise.
Yes performance varies from game to game, but overall 660ti is better. But thats not why I recommend it.
I recommend 660ti because 7870xt's heat up issue which is very real.
In summer , you can't play the games on it unless you undervolt it.
Also try noticing your vram temperature during extensive gaming. I bet its around 85c - 90c.

I would conclude my arguments with this.
The performance of 7870xt is really amazing for its price, no doubt about that.
But its heating , noise issues are very real and pain in ***. If you can afford to buy better gpu, do so without a doubt.

Now 660ti is discontinued and no available here anymore, only 660 is. Now is it wise to go back from a 7870? Considering the 7870 is superior but 660 performs surprisingly great and even matching or beating 7870 in some cases. But it's a 192-bit card at the end of the day. How does it handle AA at 1920x1080?

7870 to 660ti is not very much justified unless without paying anything or 1~2k maximum .... depending on 660Ti brand/model wagera

Let me sum up things.

1 - 7870 compares to 660 ( 7870 being slightly faster )
2 - 7950 compares to 660Ti (7950 being slightly faster and Insane over clocking headroom )
3 - 7870xt is almost same or maybe less than 5% slower than 660Ti.

All AMD cards are good performers like Nvidia and buy which ever you can get cheaper. But 7870xt had some driver related issues in the beginning. I do not think it has any significant heating problem now because it is more or less the same chip with a good after market cooler. One can always use a custom fan profile to make things better. In fact I always use a custom fan profile.

However, Since there has been no official release of 7870xt from AMD itself, I would be a little hesitant to buy it. But none the less, it is still a good card.

7870 should be compares to 660 instead of 660Ti, as you can see in many reviews and benchmarks 660Ti is beating 7870 in most Games by noticeable difference. 7870 also suffering in some games comparing with 660 by low margin though. but both are close to each other.

On the other hand, it is also depends on game you plays, some games are good played on AMD, some better played on NVIDIA GPU. at the end it depends on the Budget,

Yes! The GTX 760 has to be one of the best sweet spot card. This thing reminds me of the GTX 460 1GB - what an amazing that card was.
