@fahd Would you be generous enough to share the relevant source for this information? I also heard that the ACCA recently got sick and tired with the rant about higher entry rates via the FIA route, which is why they decided to make CAT mandatory before the ACCA route yet again.

I get the impression you are feeling nerdy.

Kion dhara rahay ho bachon ko :D

But yeah, fahd is right :p. ACCA kay baad MBA ki tayyari start kardo.. only ACCA wont cut it these days in pakistan.
How about ICAEW (with exemptions), then CIA (audit) followed by CIT (tax) after the ACCA? Do you think this would suffice for a person who isn't too excited by finance and thinks CFA would be a long shot?

Kitna parho gay yaar :D..

ACCA + 1 qualification is more than enough. At the end of the day you can only make a career in one specific field so you dont need to do 3-4 different qualifications. If you want to do them, sure.. but its not going to bring alot of benefit.

Do ACCA + MBA if you want to go towards marketing side and improve your soft skills. ACCA + CA (ICAEW or ICAP) if you want to become an accountant/auditor and work in a finance department of a firm. ACCA + CIA if you want to go into internal audit, ACCA + CFA if you want to go into investments etc etc.

At max 3 "professional" qualifications are more then enough. Experience in your relevant field is more important.

Thanks for an informative response, alamode. I thought of combining CIA and CIT with the ACCA keeping that aspect of diversification in mind, actually. Do you still think it would be an effort too far fetched if a person pursues a degree in audit as well as tax after the ACCA (for someone spending sometime in Pakistan before moving out)?

I will surely be eyeing those exemptions from the ICAEW after becoming an ACCA affiliate, so just a bit confused about that third qualification to add to the CV.

It's a pity I still don't have any established interests so far. I don't exactly know if I should fully focus my efforts to audit or tax or finance in the long run.

What do you think would be the ideal third qualification for a person who wants to get done with it quickly, gain some experience here before moving to the UAE and preferably to Canada/Australia later (or suggest any other place if you have in mind)?

Should it be MBA/MSc Finance/Human Resource or CIA or CIT or what? I did have the hots for CFA, initially. However, I then thought that it is way too lengthy, would consume lots of time and it might be too much finance for my liking. :p

I need some advice too, now that I'm done with ACCA.

1. Should I do CISA right now and then do CICA once I move to Canada?

2. Should I do ICAEW right now (Free CPL before 30th september 2013 - after that a fee will be charged) then claim equivalence for CICA and do CISA later?

Good questions. Makes me wonder how CIA and CISA are different from one another. Do you also have an opinion on which one's better and in what regard?

CICA! Not CIA.
Btw, I believe I've found the answer to my query. I'll be going for ICAEW inshaAllah and here's why.
The International Qualifications Appraisal Board | Chartered Accountants of Canada

Won't have to give any papers for CICA after having done ICAEW. However, for ACCA, there's nothing -.- I assume I'll have to give all the papers of CICA.

So the MRA exempts all papers of the CICA for ICAEW graduates without any charges, huh? Atleast that's what I understand. But what happened about your CISA plans? Are you actually interested by audit or was it just a route you chose to be able to get into CICA?

Secondly, I asked you to tell between CIA and CISA; not CICA. I meant to ask you to tell apart the two audit-related qualification and which one you feel is a better choice and why.

Thanks for that share anyway. :)

PS: Did you study P1 on your own or did you opt for tuition? Kindly let me know what resources I should use if I am to study this on my own: Kaplan Study text and Exam kit or BPP? Would appreciate if you can tell me the same for paper F9. I'd appreciate any tips that you may have to dolly out.

Don't know if there will be any charges or not but the thing is that we won't have to give any papers after ICAEW.
And my CISA plans? I started considering CISA just 2 days ago :p And no, CISA has nothing to do with my route to CICA.

I hardly have any info on these two so I won't be able to tell anything really.

I did take classes but it was a huge mistake. Better study P1 on your own. That's what everyone told me but I was too stubborn to actually listen. Used the kaplan study text and went through the past exam papers.
For F9 I actually read both : BPP and kaplan (Yes, that is how much I loved F9 :p) and also went through the past exam papers. For F9, READ the theory and try to understand it since it's quite interesting. The calculation bit is quite simple.

Thanks for the suggestions, Hammad. I have always been tempted to get BPP text because of the amount of content it contains but it's a pity that each time I bought it, I rarely picked it up to study as I thought it was too much information too often. I still have the BPP study text for F9 from the last session so I suppose it still applies in this one since the years are the same. I am assuming I wouldn't need the Kaplan study text if I follow BPP, alone. Otherwise, I ll ask someone from the last session to lend me one.

Would you also recommend BPP study text, in addition to Kaplan's, for paper P1? Also, what's your take on the kit for the two papers: BPP and/or Kaplan?

I highly appreciate all your help.

I can't recommend only one for F9 since I read both :p Some chapters are better explained in kaplan and others in BPP.

For P1, just read kaplan text book and you'll be fine. I swear it's the most useless professional paper ever. They should've made P4 compulsory.

Regarding the kits. Don't get them. From F7 onwards, all I did were the past papers of the previous 10 attempts. That's more than enough. By "I did the past papers", I mean that I just read them and did not write them down and practice since no one has time for that and it's really boring :p

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
