This happened in Bahalwalpur some hours ago...

At least 140 killed, 100 injured in Bahawalpur oil tanker fire

People were gathering oil from a leaking tanker, which is highly dangerous as well as theft.

Despite police cordoning the area off alot of locals gathered to collect it
and it seems someone of the crowd was lacking in common sense even more than the people that he lit a cigerate.

Was getting a few 100rs out of such oil worth it?
or waiting to smoke their cig?

I honestly have no words...

It is truly a depressing news.

;_; If only there was a way to raise awareness about such dangers...

Incident of such magnitude resulting in so many casualties is a national tragedy. It was not their greed which should be marked for reason of incident but must be seen in the context of our social and moral standing.

Its shocking that people would blame greed, illiteracy, higher power. These are not the causes of such incident but the representation of your population. The people that reside in this country. The authorities, highway police etc should've immediately sealed of the area. It is their negligence in performing their duties and they should be held accountable.

So you shift the entire blame to the authorities? And everyone else was doing nothing wrong?

The thing is you and i are educated mashallah. However the majority of Pakistan are poor people, education has never been a priority for them. Many do not know the flammability of Petrol etc. When petrol comes in contact with the heat of sun it turns into gas immediately and the radius multiples two folds. Many educated do not know that. These poverty stricken people with no morality, ethics whatever u call it, will ofcourse take oil for the purpose of selling or anything else as a self beneficial act. The authorities are given training to seal areas or combat such activities. They shouldve come immediately.

The people of this country will not change or cannot change until values are instilled into them, with proper education. However such situations couldve been avoided if the authorities took action
